Here's some pictures of building my Hiss half-track 2. People oftem comment on my clean paint jobs so here's some tips. I don't have an airbrush but I've learned to love rattle can painting.
1. I like to remove all the stickers and clean all the parts before i start any custom work. I use paint thinner to remove stickers and soap and hot water to clean them. Give them a good scrub down with a toothbrush. 2. Always make sure your cuts are as straight as possible and as clean as possible. Don't use a chainsaw. I use a really sharp hacksaw. I se a super sharp hobby knife and a straight edge on sheet plastic. You'll note in the pictures not all the edges are straight but those are ones you can't see at all. I like to try and hide my cuts with sheet plastic where possible. 3. Before you glue anything take the time to fit it together and make sure it all works. When you have nice straight cuts it makes gluing much easier. 4. Try not to smear glue or filler all over the place. Its just makes more work sanding it all off. All these add up to a nice finish. 5. Always and i mean always test the paint first on some scrap if your not familiar with how it covers. Paint the side of the part you will see last. I like to paint everything even where you don't see. Paint the bottom flip it over paint the top. You won't get overspray on the finished side that way. Or if you can hang it and do both at the same time even better. That's very hard with some parts. 6. I really believe all these add up to a nice finish. Paint magnifies what's underneath it does not hide it. 7. Everyone will have slightly different ways of doing things. I always say do it the way your most comfortable but keep it straight and keep it clean. 8. Sometimes you can fix minor scratches by spraying some paint into a clean jar or can. I use cat food cans. Then you can brush the paint on the fill the scratch. This works great with flat colours not so well with metallic paint.

Great advice, if I may add, I always let the paint completely dry between primers an paint and clear coats, at least a few days, I also
put parts in a box lined with foil with a lamp over it to bake the VOC's out, this helps paint Bond to the parts, carefully handle parts with powder free gloves so no blemishes in surface, I assemble it after minimum of 5 day drying period, then weathering and detailing, Oh, and store your Ratle cans upside down, this helps prevent them from slowly loosing the propellant, I've lost many $$$ from full cans that sat and lost all the propellants over time, not one since I started storing them bottoms up...
