UPDATE! FINALLY UPDATED WITH NEW PICS!!!
Scroll down for new pics! Let me know what you think! After seeing me work on my Outpost, my 3.5 year old son asked me to build him a Superhero house. Can a dad say no? I asked what was a super hero house was and he explained it needed a place for superheroes to hang out until they are needed. Like firemen, ok. It needs a Tim Horton's for when they are working early, also a place to eat after the day. I remember getting sweaty at that point. He went on to say it needed a toy shop and a hospital and a place to sleep. I don't remember when I hit the floor exactly. My GF said he went on for a while... Anyway, should be fun! And I've been so obsessed with Empire's Spaceport lately... So the idea is a superhero complex. A cross between a mall and a subway station in the lower level. The deli, toy shop, Tim Horton's, and the hidden evil lair are all there. Stairs & elevators coming soon. (Hey, not everybody flies!) The upper level is for the HQ (with a bathroom), the medical center and a dojo/sushi place. Yah. The top part is all walls & rooftops, 'cause you know, superheroes LOVE to fight on rooftops I also have plans for a super jail and sewers. And a slide down tube Ã* la Batman. And. Let's just say I'm not close to being done but I'm having a blast. The kid also... For starters: -The floor parts is a sheet of massonite I cut. 24"x 18" & 24"x 16" supported by 6" blocks of 2"x 4" screwed in. Levels are not yet screwed to each other. -Massonite thin sheets and different wooden strips from a hobby store for frames & walls. -Lotsa wood superglue, plaster, sanding, painting... I try to keep in mind it is a playset for a (growing fast) 4 year old, not a diorama, so that thing needs to be solid. Not just pretty. Please keep in mind I don't wanna build a divorce case ;) The base is a cabinet on wheels that I repainted and added handles, everything is screwed on solid, you could push this thing down stairs UPDATE: WIP Pics added July 6th: I'm not done yet, need to add the lighting and finish other rooms & signs but the kids are allowed to play with it. It's a solid hit! Dojo More coming soon, thanks for looking! Milt

egads man, that is so friggin' cool. As for what's missing, I couldn't even begin to tell you. I think it's awesome, but of course, it's all up to your imagination.

That Tim Horton's is the sh!t man!
As for suggestions, how about some break-away/interactive things. Like a wall that heroes/villains can crash through, but can be reset and done again. Maybe some LED lighting in certain places as well? So far, great work! If I was a kid, I'd be completely happy with it just as it is.

Looks great. I'm sure the kid is gonna love it. The only thing I can think of in terms of constructive input is that the colors are a bit dark, but you may going for a darker vibe. Really though it looks good.

The crash-thru wall I was thinking for the super jail, it would make for a nice escape... Also the floors aren't fit together yet, so I can wire that thing (when the time comes) with anything I want. I will go nuts for sure... I know, I really wanted to tone down the realism level (next to what I usually like) but it's hard Also, I'm hoping he grows up wth it, so I'm not building another one next month, you know. It's a bit dark for a 4 year old but it will be really cool for a 6 year old. If it "survives" his childhood. And I want it to fit with any line or figures he wants to play with, be it super heroes, Joes or Star wars or whatever. But that thing is built tough ex: The flower vase in the infirmary is screwed in the night stand, which is screwed in the floor and everything on that thing has been soaked in wood superglue, plastered and painted. I know. Hey thanks again!

I could see superheroes wrestling each other to help refine skills or one up each other. What about a caged wrestling mat like in Mad Max or Spiderman? Also, what about a landing pad for flying vehicles like that Iron Man jet dince not all superheroes fly. The last suggestion would be some type of place where a superhero could change costume, like a revolving door, phone booth, or the like. It looks nice so far.
