So here is some very early progress on my Urban DIO scene, it will be a Cobra base on the outskirts of an abandoned town, the layout is on a 6'x3' table with some slight overhang to get the most out of the area, it is also being built next to an old wall mounted shelving unit that I am "transforming" into a building and this will house weapons lad, dorms, a vault of some sort, etc...
Since the pics were taken I was able to pick up the weather dominator DVD set and have added that to one of the base rooftops. Not sure if can tell thru the pics but I have also added the Joes platform base to a rooftop for Cobra So now that my layout is pretty set I can start to work on actaully making these look like buildings... I also have but not pictured as it is not quite done yet is a DG Cobra Commander that I am painting gold to act as a statue for the base courtyard... 4/23/14 UPDATED PICS It's been brought to my attention I should be putting the updated pics in the OP so here they are! Man it ahs been some time since I last updated! It has been a journey trying to make such a large dio (my frist dio period, lol) a LOT has changed in the layout since I began, but learning new techniques, products to use have contributed to the changes...with that said we are in the absolute final layout design and was based on me getting my very first Terror Drome! I went from Urban city layout, to a castle, to big arse building to this final one Cobra Island! The purpose of the dio remains the same Cobra hideout for advanced weapons....I still have a ton of carving, sculpting and painting to do so please don't mind the pink, lol I would like to say that all the guys & gals at Diostructure have inspired me almost daily....well on to the update pics! Full layout...all taht you see in pink will be carved, sculpted and painted to look like a volcano, parts of the base will be built into it and the TD will look like they took part of the volcano away to place it Compound Z lab #2 Z Lab Containment Cell SS's Dojo There will be more to come! The Robotics Lab needs more love, Z Lab needs more as well, tubes need be painted, lights need to be added throughout the whole dio, shoreline to be carved, water to be placed, but now it should move right along as I FINALLY decided on a layout, only took 14 months and several configurations, lol 5/5/14 Updates! Well, we had our big local Joe Trade Fest yesterday (what a turnout! Boss Fight was there with there line on display!!) My big pick up was a 2nd Terror Drome!!!! We had a great time, Comicazi in Somerville, MA hosted us for several hours yestrerday and after I felt inspired spent some cleaing time on the newly purchased TC and I went big! Also did some more carving and started work on the armory portion (bottom floor of the main non-TD section) Well here's some new pics!

thats looking good so far! I build with that stuff too, if you are making a floor, or a 2nd floor, I would use the thicker sheets for the floor. I made a quick base for my son last year and used the thin sheets like those as the floor, LOL .. he was walking down the stairs with some Joes in it and some accessories from Marauder and the the floor gave out .. we laughed so hard, but learned not to use that size again!

Just keep an eye out for the Cobra building inspector, some of those edifices do not appear to be in code. Just kidding, looks like a good starting point. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece.

Awesome tip man thanks!!! Like I said this is my first dio and any tips are greatly appreciated! I am hoping to get back at this beast tonight I have a test spray to try out as well. I have a textured spray paint I want to attempt to use as "stucco"
