Are those 3rd party Transformers using Hasbro characters or are the original designs? Shooter is a creation and design from Hasbro. And how well do the 3rd party creators keep their identities a secret? I know the Black Major went to great lengths to keep his identity a secret while bootlegging GI Joe.

You name them something else. Your Shooter becomes Sniper O14 for Sniper from original 14 joes. General Flagg becomes General Stripes. Colonel Sharpe is Col Point. A Pursuit of Cobra like Serpentor becomes Serpent King. A Pursuit of Cobra Major Bludd is Col Aussie. Hasbro can't really do anything. Or if naming them so close makes you nervous just make ME scale figures and don't name them. We can figure it out. Like I said Hasbro doesn't own military action figures. |

Slayer for a time did this - but sold the, as kits. Broken Arrow sells figures but not painted. Others like Rwginspoon sell complete figures. I think the name is the big issue.

Yes, but there are other people like Jazzwares and Bridge Direct that are making figures that are similar in scale to ME Joes. Hasbro doesn't own the way a figure is constructed. The Crysis action figures that came out a few years ago were almost identically structured like a ME Joe. The head casters like Broken Arrow and Tofujesse are actually copying Hasbros work and selling it which I think has to be kinda iffy. You would be sculpting your own stuff - Hasbro wouldn't really have anything to do. You would just be making a high quality army action figure which Hasbro doesn't own.

so honestly if you change the name and leave off any identifying symbols you should be alright.

some of them are almost full on designs...igear is making a more articulated versions of the minibots and classics/generations sized versions of g1 ironhide and ratchet. the most they do is change the name and leave out the autobot or decepticon symbols.
so honestly if you change the name and leave off any identifying symbols you should be alright. And after thinking about it, if you did O ring figures but with the same level of articulation in the arms and legs as ME then I would be in for that too. Maybe this was answered already someplace but im wandering what is being used for a t hook. I have thought about making a mold of the t hook and using cast-able tooling epoxy to make t hooks but is there is a source out there it would be kinda a moot point. Im pretty sure the regular casting resins would never hold up over time thats why i was exploring cast-able tooling epoxy. None the less this is a cool project. Ive never done any character stuff and have thought of doing it sometime.
