Hello Fellow 'Tankers,
I have a special surprize, not only did my USS Destroyer I won from E-bay arrived today, my USS Tiger Shark submarine I won on E-bay arrived as well. I was going to post earlier about this one today with out it here, but it was a suprize for me to find it at the house when I got home from work. (My wife was equally surprized as well seeing two huge boxes being dropped off at the door from the mail person. Wish I could have seen her face, ha!) Unlike my previous purchase, this toy was missing pannels. Since this was a custom project, I did not mind making replacements out of styreen. With this one, I am not forseeing as much work to be done on this one compared to the USS Destroyer. The hull is good shape and is a basic sub design. I am thinking Los Angeles class sub, short version. Inside, I am thinking the main bridge as a playset that can be accessed by the doors for play value. Besides that, I am open to ideas on what else can be done to her. With that said, here are some pics to enjoy. First up is the overview of the boat with some ME figure for scale refrence. The sailers are looking over the aging sub to see what repairs will be needed. Gen. Hawk is going over the task at hand with Cutter and Shipwreck. Gen Hawk: "We were able to salvage what we can from her after our last battle with Cobra (see Rise of Cobra movie ). The USS Tiger Shark is scheduled for CSG (Carrier Strike Group) support for the USS Flagg. Clean her up and get her sea worthy A.S.A.P. gentlemen." Cutter: "Aye-aye, sir!" Shipwreck: "Aye-aye, sir!" Ok guys, like before, I now open the floor to the experts and seek out your knowledge and advise. Thanks for looking.

uh... It's Aye-aye Sir, not "eye-eye". Looking forward to seeing where you would take this. Also what is the USS Destroyer?

Ha!, leave it to an Army guy to mess that up, LOL.
I fixed it. Here is the link to the USS Destroyer custom project: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...e-project.html Basically, it's an almost 3ft long GI Joe destroyer ship. It was from a line of vehicle toys that had lights, sounds and moving parts. In some cases (like the sub and the destroyer) they "drive" on the ground using levers and simple directions, like the mobat.

Your going to do it up in tiger force colors for the real "Tiger Sharc" effect?

I wonder how easy it would be to make the sub both playable in the dry (e.g. add the interior details) as well as in a pool (close off and flood the interior and just use the outside - make it float and even have variable buoyancy so it could dive).
I really do need a pool.... |

can't wait to see how this turns out. I hope if you do go tiger force you will do in the colors of a real tiger shark. I hate that bright yellow....nothing tactical about that at all.

To EXTEND THIS and make it longer you could use 4 inch PVC Pipe or smaller, depending on the Sub size. In the section you extend you can build living quarters and bridge, maybe engine and torpedo room as well.
I dont know the actual diameter of this sub so I can't guide you to specifics, only brainstorm ideas. IF done correctly with the bonding process of the sections this could be killer, AND if you elongate with the pvc you can precut the top so it easy can come on and off. IF the bottom of this sub is flat that shouldnt be an issue to even out the bottom of the pvc so it too is "flat" I think you're on to something good here too. |

Hey folks,
Thanks for the comments so far. Nothing new to report except for... I just picked up a complete on off of e-bay last night! It has all the door, the tail door and the two masts. I know, I know, crazy right? What to do with the second one now? Well for starters, I figure I can mold and cast the missing doors for the first one along with the masts. After that, I am not sure. I could just put it back on e-bay, I could make do the modifications on both of these and sell the first one on e-bay, OR I can make a Cobra Sub out of it. What do you guys think? Now for some Q&A: Quote:

Ok folks, thats about it for now. I hope to do some sketches soon with the current sub in hand as the model. One thing I will say, I did get an extra Polar Shark sub toy over the weekend. I opened it and held it up next to the sub. The Tiger Shark is long enogh that the Polar Shark can "ride" on it like in the movie, just not double stacked like in the 3D model, but you could fit 4 around the back side of the boat. For now, I can use this loose one as a docking sub and piggyback behind the sail. I will try and get some pics up tonight. Stay tuned folks for more updates.
