Incidently, I was looking up other Navy ships and came across a side by side pic of a battleship next to a carrier. OMG, I did not know they were as long or almost as long as a carrier! I can understand why Hasbro did not make a battleship for the Joes. Could you imagine a battleship toy as long as the USS Flagg? That thing would be monsterious in size.

Hey Everyone,
Well the wait is over, the USS Destroyer arrived at the GI Joe dry dock facility. She is battle harden and in need of repair (Custom repair that is ). This thing is huge! With a little extra care in design, this bueaty could have housed some Joes. Ok guys, here are some pics to help get the idea train moving. First up is scale refrence shot showing the size of the whole ship with ME version of the figures. The boat is 35 inches long, 7 inches wide, and 11 inches high. I would say this toy would have favored better with ARAH scale figures had they planned for such play value. With the modification I suggested, she should be over 3 ft long and the island about 5 inches high, then add all the other kibble on top of that, and the mast would put it closer to 15 inches high or taller. The width is just right for 3 figures to stand side by side comfortably. Here you can see that Cutter stands just above the hull from water level. An ARAH figure come right at level with the ship's hull (I have a Bombstrike and newer Covergirl O-ring figures still left in my collection). The doors do hinder full access the hull top to bottom, so standing a figure would be difficult to accomplish. Might have to remove the island to access the CIC in the hull. Just a fun quick dio: Gen. Hawk: "With the deffence budget shrinking, we need to recycle these older ships back into active duty. The brass thinks it would be cheaper to recondition these relics than to purchase new ships. Your orders, Cutter and Shipwreck, is to head a team in taking the former USS Destroyer and maker her battle ready to be part of the USS Flagg's CSG (Carrier Strike Group)." Cutter: Aye-aye sir! I think I have some ideas for her. Shipwreck: Aye-aye sir! We will get her back to her old self again. Crewman 1: How the hell are we suppose to weld swiss cheeze? Crewman 2: I don't know, but don't toss out your gum, we might need that later. I will see about getting some more pics. My camera is acting wiered and blurring alot the shots I took tonight. Might be time for me to get another one. Oh well, thanks for looking and I look foward to your inputs on this project.

Too small, those little gun turrets are tell tale signs of its scale...unless your going for a bubba gump shrimp boat?

I think it will only look good if you redo the tower structure and build some sort of cockpit that joes can fit in. Lot sof hacking and cutting and stuff, but good luck

It has potential...but it's going to take some serious work.
As it sits, this is to a Battleship, what the Barracuda is to a Submarine. |

That's a tiny ship but it still looks pretty cool. There are plenty of parts on that ship from real ones in the fleet, the exhaust stacks from a Burke, the main gun from a BB, the missiles are SM2's. It would definitely be better if it were like 6 ft long but you gotta make do with waht you got. Good luck with your fleet.

Why the downer on the Barracuda? I know it doesn't like surfacing in water that is anything below luke-warm/deeper than your arm is long, but that's not the sub it's the baking powder! ;)
