I love the Jolly Rogers, but for something different you could go with the VF-101 Grim Reapers
File:Vf-101 grim reapers tomcat tail.jpg - Wikimedia Commons or if you want Cobra the VF-102 Diamondbacks File:Vf-102 diamondbacks tomcat tail.jpg - Wikimedia Commons Great images. Thanks again(Got any other cool ones?). I know that for sure i want to make the canopy from on this one grey like the hull. Quote:
It actually is the air brake, however its in a partially up position mainly in the vintage version because thats where the tail hook attachment went that came with the flagg. Why they put this on the 30th one i dont know as the tail hook doesnt seem to fit it, at least not as well as it does on the vintage. but looks good man. Keep it up. Im sure it will be super great and we will all want one lol.
I will reproduce it with vinyl sheet cut to size on the rear end, in the closed position. Quote:

I meant, I love how you solved the problem of the tab going into the cockpit. You managed to shorten the tab so that the cockpit has more room by using the screw method.

Also, you said Ace didn't fit well in your cockpit, that's the same issue I had with mine. I had to use the POC Wild Bill bodies for my Skystriker. I even got a second Ace to have two Ace pilots and only to find out they wouldn't fit in my modified 2 seater...haha.

Aha! I get you now. I totally didn't get that at the time. It can only be shortened as much as i did because there is a lip of plastic that is moved forward when the gear is in the up position(It's forward end of the plastic part that slides the gear up and down), and if you chop the tab any more, the plastic lip would enter the cockpit. |

It's a real conundrum... Let me pose this question for everyone reading(Who might consider buying an upgrade kit of parts for altering the cockpit into a two-seater): Are you likely to be using the ACE figure in the jet? Or will you be more likely to use another figure? The compromise if everyone is going to use ACE is that the seat needs to be shorter(No bottom of the seat). If most people are likely to use a different figure, i can make actual seats with a bottom part that will just sit in place. If it's going to be exclusively ACE, the seats need to be smaller. |

Damn Bar, amazing work as usual. Your changes are very cool, I was thinking you could possibly even modify the center fuel tank to cover the screw--just a thought, I still like the fact that you used what was there, very inventive sir.
As far as the pilot, I really like Ace but I really like seeing his face like the old F-14 pilots, Im speaking ONLY for me obviously. If you did make a kit, count me in. If you know of anyone who can do some squadron decals like Grim Reapers and Jolly Rogers, Sundowners...etc, perhaps they can tap into this market as well. I know CobraStickers is coming out with a set, but I dont know if its out yet. Early bird gets the worm I guess. I read and reread your posts, Im starting my job in surgery on monday, lots of fun stuff to learn as well as resins dealing with orthopedics. Cant wait to have fun with the tools. Bravo on a job well done, as always, impressed the hell outta me again. |
