Hey guys,

So with the recent CobraStickers poll about what labels to create to customize a Skystriker, I had suggested a cool insignia and callsign for Ms. O'Hara. Skeptical as to whether or not this would actually ever be done (and because I'm a professional graphic designer), I've decided to take matters into my own hands and design and print them myself. I still think Scarlett of all figures deserved her own custom labels with the Skystriker since she actually has her own pilot outfit, and she got the short end of the stick on the sticker sheet!

I used the preexisting cockpit nametag/callsign labels as a reference, and quickly discovered with a little experimentation that the correct font is Impact and the size is 10pts. I printed these onto a clear laminate sticky sheet that my fianceé got from a special supplier and the results look PERFECT. (See Scarlett with her new cockpit labels below- pic was taken prior to the rest of the labels being applied though).

For the wing/fin insignia, I created something of my own. I haven't printed it out yet, but I thought I'd share it here. I tried to think of items that would appropriately symbolize what Scarlett's all about, so I chose a fox and a crossbow, and weathered them a little bit to look like they could believably be seen on a Skystriker's wings.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I like that design. I could see that on the tail fins of her skystriker.Awesome job.I have 3 or 4 of those Scarletts. I never thought of giving her her own striker.

I totally dig it; I like it. But it wouldn't make sense (okay, okay--"...in my 'Joe-verse") since Scarlett isn't really a pilot. I mean, she's what, covert ops and infantry? Wouldn't make sense for Uncle Sam to allocate a plane specifically for her use. I can't see every Private--or Sergeant, etc.--in the Army getting his/her own plane.

Still, it's a really cool design nonetheless, and considering that this is G.I.Joe and not the real world, I would love to see it on a plane.

But I wouldn't put it on the tailfins, since I always thought the tailfins had the unit's/squadrons insignia on it. But towards the nose-cone, yeah baby, that works!

I especially like the pilot insignia/symbol art you designed.

I'm a graphic designer too and thought about doing some custom work but have been too busy to actually get anything started.

The weathering/distressed look turned out great. The design looks almost Saul Bass inspired, IMO.

My only comment would be that the parts of the fox that are supposed to look white wouldn't work if placed on a clear substrate on the black tail fin, no? Printing it onto white vinyl or something would fix that. Otherwise you can put it by the cockpit and you shouldn't have any issues.

Can't wait to see the finished product!

You make some very good points- Even though I know she is an homage to the international "Glenda" figure, I just figured that as she is one of if not the only figure in the modern era line specifically designed and tooled to be a jet fighter pilot (other than Ace), then she deserves her own jet and hence some cool-looking labels. When looking back at the label sheet, the very idea that a blind silent ninja and a rowdy womanizing sailor would be issued their own jets seems ridiculous, and the thought of Scarlett, regardless of her military specialty being fully dressed to fly just doesn't seem that farfetched.

I'm a huge sunbow fan, and I love the episode "Not a ghost of a chance" where you see her hop in a Conquest and take off from the Flagg:

Thanks!! Yes I was actually thinking of that same issue where the fox would need white parts and I think I can make them a shade of grey to offset the orange, although I don't even think I'll be putting these on the tail fins anyway and rather the wings and sides of the jet.
