Nath I LOVE what you're doing and your work is simply gorgeous.
Truly dig it, in fact I am so interested in how you finalize the landing gear that I am DYING to learn exactly how you do it! Also if you have a friend that is good at making molds, what are the chances he'd make molds of the GE 110 engines you made? Would be a billion times easier to get a mold then to have to make a dozen copies by hand. I have F-14 accurate chin pods, both versions. IF I can get molds made locally I'll send you a set of the F-14A and F-14D chin pods. |

Oh Nath that reminds me.... you wanted to know what those triangular "fingernail" things in front of the Phoenix Missles are for.
Those are air dams. They are there for aerodynamics so there is no drag occurring by the Phoenix Missles when mounted in the front of the jet like that. The F-14 could hold a total of 6 Missles at any given time in any combination. There was a time when F-14's went up with 6 Phoenix Missles attached, 4 underneath on her belly, and 2 on the Missle arms on the wing. This also was the case with Sparrow Missles. The most common configuration for a Tomcat was 2 Phoenix Missles on her belly, 2 Sparrow Missles and 2 Sidewinder Missles on the Missle Arms. Grumman is around the block from my house. I watched these Jets being made, and test flown here on Long Island. I have A LOT of reference materials concerning the Tomcat. If you EVER need reference shoot me a message and I'll be happy to email you pictures. |

If I was you I would cast the engines, and the cockpit 2 piece glass. I know Id be interested in it. You did an amazing job on the cockpit extensions, that's exactly what I want but I probably wont be able to make them as good.

OK folks I have been laboriously gathering fodder needed to complete an accurate F-14 and F-18 Carrier Wing and so far it's going pretty damn good.
I have finally made a mock up on an original Skystriker carcass that I made a video on you tube showing what Im gonna do and what things on the existing Skystriker need to be changed in order to make the conversions more accurate. So here's video 1, we'll see how long it takes to make further videos. If all goes well these will be tutorial based so you can physically see what Im doing and how Im doing it as well as all materials used for the builds.... yes builds I have a ton to convert Hope the video helps you future F-14 Tomcat fans and gets ya to wanna build your own Anyhoo here's the first video: |
