VERY minor update: due to my very busy office schedule, im having a hard time to be completely fulltime on this build. i wish i can sit on this and have some decent progress.anyway, im planning to use the empty YAKULT container as my thruster.i havent fully worked on it, im planning to put some details on it later on. for the meantime heres how it looks like, i guess you know wht im trying to do in here. Yakult as thrusters, 45 degree cut has been re-shaped, puttied then sanded. original photo, sorry im using my old camera..sucks. what do you think? nath Last edited by nath_1977; 05-04-2011 at 02:19 AM.. |

Awesome Job!!! The Yakult (for those who don't know what Yakult is...it's cultured milk kinda like liquified yogurt) bottles worked real well. Also, using pentel pens (a brand of markers very popular in the Philippines) is just pure genius. The gears you are working on look better than the real ones on the sky striker. Can't wait to see it finished.

Heh and I'm currently working on an F-14 in a 48th scale, conversion color tone into a skystriker. the next one I do may be a skystriker conversion based on the toy version. but that is yet to be seen. I like what you're doing with this bird. Keep us up to date! Yo Joe!

Hey Nath... here is a thought for you....
Since you are planning to retract the wheels... are you planning to make the three sectional bay doors? or just open? if you were to do an open/close bay door set... Might be an idea to pick up an extra Skystriker and cut the door section open and then cut the other body pieces a little larger then the hole, cutting them to the shapes they need to be, then fitting them in the doorway, sanding them down enough to have a reasonably square fit, like the real ones have. Just food for the thought.

Hey nath, the gear legs might look better shortened a bit. Are you adding spring suspension to them? For the rudders, can you take a pic of the vertical stabilizer from the side? The rudders might be angling out too much, but I need to see it from the side. Are the landing gear going to swivel before retraction?
