Hey 'Tankers,
quick question for you customizing/modeling experts. What glue do you recommend/use when modding Joes and/or their vehicles? I've always used superglue but I hate the way it scars paint and plastic. Is there any better bonding agent for plastics that holds as well without the collateral damage? thanks in advance for your help |

meh, I've alway used Walgreens brand superglue, it does burn, but just paint over it. Can't beat 10 tubes for 5 bucks.

You should avoid gluing painted parts, the paint can easily break off and there goes your glued togetherness. Try scraping off paint in the area where you want to apply glue so you are bonding plastic to plastic & not paint to paint(or paint to plastic).
I use Shoo goo for everything, but it excels on soft & rubbery plastics.

For vehicles I recommend Plastruct Bondene. Use it for the hard plastics, Polystyrene and ABS. I have used it for years and it really does produce a chemical weld that makes the two pieces as strong as one if used correctly.

Which glue works best for fixing figures and vehicles? Is one better for the rubbery plastic and another for the hard plastic?
I have used the Loctite Gel in the past and it works well, I just haven't put it to a hard test to see if it holds something with strength (important vehicle part, or something that could be easily re-broken like a vintage crotch). I just got some Gorilla Glue (white 2x faster version) and I wonder if it has a stronger bond. But the package does say it is "Not recommended for use on Polyethylene or Polypropylene plastics." So, I wonder if it should be used on action figures at all. What do you guys use? What holds strong? What causes the least amount of problems? Help!?
