After looking at some really expensive flight stands from Bandai, etc I realized I didn't need anything that complex for Joes...
So, here's how to make 40 flight stands for $2 and random extra Joe stands you may have. Step 1) What You'll need -Joe/Cobra stands -Thumbtack -Super glue -Wirecutters -Floral stem wires (these are the wires florists use to hold up flowers in arrangements. You can find these at any hobby store for about $2 for a large pack. Not sure if there are different sizes/guages, but check the picture for the size I use. It's just thick enough to support a figure fine and not too thick to be distracting. They're sheathed in a green fabric, but that's easy removed, just twist it off with a little pressure. Step 2) Building the base Using a lighter, heat up the end of the thumbtack, and press it straight through the middle of the figure stand. It'll go through like butta Pull through about 7"-8" of the unwrapped floral stem Bend those 7"-8" to fit along the inner edges of the figure stand. You'll want to make sure this is flat and straight (use the edges of the wirecutters as a hard, straight edge if needed. Glue the wire to the bottom of the figure stand. Because it's concave, the wire won't hinder how the stand sits flat. Once the glue dries, you'll end up with a base with 12" plus of wire coming out the top

Step 3) Build the top
The best part about using the floral stems is that you can create whatever height and "figure connection piece" that best fits your needs... Just use the wire cutters to cut the height you need and bend the wire however you want it. Here are examples of two I've used: folding the wire back and forth to create a clip to hold onto the back of Storm Shadow's vest and a loop to fit around Nemesis Enforcer The wire's strong enough to support a figure (probably ones larger than Joe's, too...) in everything from a hover pose to a high leaping pose

Thanks for the kind words y'all! Been making these for awhile and kept forgetting to share it here... they're so easy and cheap- I use them for aerial stuff but also for just ground poses a figure can't normally pull off...
Case in point: Impossibletoys' Arcee can barely stand, but with a short support base, she can pull of some cool poses Again, used a folded clip to rest her backpack in... it doesn't rub the paint at all and is easily separated... Because you can't see the connector, it doesn't matter how sloppy you make it!

I think that's just awesome. I can't believe I never thought of this myself.

Forgot one other place I've used floral stems... Serpentor's Air Chariot!
This was a bit trickier.... I had to splay out the bottom to support the overall weight and wrap the top of the wire around and through the chariot's foot area, bending it to also fit around the lip of the plastic underneath for extra stability. It's a little wobbly, but raises the Air Chariot enough to make it hover at the right height...
