The Hasbro G36 rifle, that came with many later figs, is really good except for the buttstock - it's too long. I know this might sound nit-picky, but this stuff will hinder your figs range of motion and poseability. It's something to think about if you want those tight tactical firing positions.
That's all for now... |

Going through some of my reference photos, some things i notice with more modern soldiers that I've been wanting to try...
-handguns often times have cabled connections to the uniform to keep the weapon from being disarmed or lost. -I'm using a craft wire technique with a drill and a pair of pliers to make what appears to be coiled cable. http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...-poc-duke.html It's a pretty easy recipe and I put it on that thread. Speaking of coiled wires - the other night, I used the little clear coated twist-ties from toy packaging to create a nice coiled power cord. I removed the coating of course, coiled it around a very small drill bit, and then stretched it out a slight bit. Works like a charm, and looks spot on for what I made it for.

Anyone see a scope like this one? That's the only part I'm lacking on my scratchbuilt version. Last edited by GI Guppy the third; 01-26-2011 at 01:05 AM.. |

Gup,
I haven't seen it exactly... but SW guns have some good scopes you could probably use. |

Just so you guys know - this thread is for anyone to chime in on modern/real gear, weapons, etc. If you know of something, have something, or have made something that would help others in creating realistic customs, let's hear it.
Let's try to push the envelope a little more with this stuff. Ideas on small detail components, camo patterns/apps, and how about shoulder patches... yeah, that would be killer. No reason those 1/6 guys should have all the fun! |

I've been thinking about grabbing one of these:
Tamiya America Item #36308 | 1/16 Modern US Infantryman - Desert Uniform to harvest parts from. Obviously the figure is a little large, but he has some nice looking gear. I wish there was a better picture of the "goggles and night vision lens" made with clear plastic parts. Just an alternative to those OUR WAR guys. Perhaps not quite what you're after. |
