Hi guys,
I'm relatively new to the tank but very new to the idea of customization as well as a new restoration project I'm about to entangle myself with. Background: Recently at a Toy show, I encountered a box of 'goodies' that was 30bones for everything inside. Inside was 1 - Whale Hull 1 - Tomahawk Hull w/ several parts but still several missing 1 - Snowcat Hull w/ treads 1 - Skystriker Hull 1 - Moray Hull They were all in various types of shape but I'm interesting in at least restoring/resurrecting the Tomahawk and Moray. I'm curious as to what recommendations have for cleaning (they are dirty somewhat as well as dusty) and repainting (specifically the Moray red section) I already know to go for Cobra Stickers for replacement stickers but any help would be appreciated.

Nail polish remover works great to take off stickers. Start with a little and work your way up to applying how much you feel comfortable with. Since there aren't any, or at least very little, metal parts, soaking them in a tub with some dishwashing liquid would work well to clean it overall. You can use the nail polish remover for the stickers after their "bath".

Goo Gone and Magic Erasers. Just got done with a Moray, a Tomahawk, and a Skystriker. I still need to get some stickers on them.

i use dove bar soap and a toothbrush when the item is very dirty. after scraping off the sticker with your fingernail, soak a rag in baby oil and lather the plastic or rubber pieces. then after letting them sit for a desired time, use a rag soaked in alcohol to remove the sticky residue and the baby oil. or use goo gone to remove the residue. googone works great, especially for caked on stickyness. i still recommend a good baby oil soak though, it reinvigorates the plastic. and this is a less expensive place to get stickers, but you have to cut them yourself. http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...3-12-10-a.html these techniques have worked for all my restorations. pics included...

my only experience trying nail-polish remover says the acetone of nail-polish remover damages and discolors the plastic.
