Growing up, my cousin & I were always using boxes for vehicles & forts. Now that I'm into Joe again, I made a Terror Drome & Headquarters Command Center for my son & I's GI Joes. Both are works in progress I'd like to improve.
Capri-Sun boxes are all one needs (along with tape & superglue). They're cheap & sturdy. The Terror Drome does have an opening things can go inside. So far for the Joe headquarters, we just use the side gun that came with the RAM cycle for the cannon. Last edited by Shogi; 08-04-2010 at 05:30 PM.. |

Pretty cool. Reminds me of my own childhood.
I like foamboard myself. It's finicky but strong as hell if you put it together right. My art teacher actually built a bar out of it (sadly, it wasn't finished in time for end of semester, otherwise he'd have served drinks). |

Anyone know where I can buy appropriate looking accessories like chairs, laptops, beds, & such for our Joes?

When I was a kid I made an entire race track for my Tamiya Mini 4WD racers (aka Record Breakers) out of cardboard, tape, and an old ping pong table. The thing was bad ass complete with a cross over bridge. I wish I had taken a picture of it back then.

Your probably going to have to hunt for that stuff. For example, Big Lots has the World Peacekeepers toys have accessories included in their playsets and figure sets. Then there are the newest movie Star Trek figures that you can find on clearance at many stores. They have cool chairs and computer consoles that would work great.

But yeah, my favourite Joe vehicle from my childhood was actually made from Betamax styrofoam packaging that I used to use as a hovercraft. |

I was as a kid and still am a great lover of cardboard dios - cheap and quick/easy to modify/improve, if only the wife would let me get building (need to get a bigger place! ;)
About accessories, have you tried Marauders gun runners? He has chairs, tables and beds amongst other useful weaponry and diorama accessories. |

I used to do the same when I was young.
I recall making a WHALE out of a shoebox and soldiers barracks too.
