Good stuff!
My problem wad after finally tracking down the printable decal paper, the ink just dissolved right off of the paper once submerged in water. Even the sealant stuff caused it to run beforehand, and once sealed, the cut edges lost some color. I assume it had to do with the type of printer(ink jet, bubble jet, etc) and perhaps the settings. My problems aside, this guide is really useful and I encourage everyone to check it out. I was unprepared for how floppy, thin and difficult to slide around they were compared to the factory kind I used to put on X-Wing models and stuff. Having these simple tools and plans will save people some frustration. |

Also, after you print it, let it dry a day. Then seal it the next day with a very light spray sealer and let it dry another day. It's a slow process, but the end result is worth the work. |

That's the trick, DO NOT submerge the decal. Let it sit on the surface or hold it at the surface. Only the backing paper should get wet.
Also, after you print it, let it dry a day. Then seal it the next day with a very light spray sealer and let it dry another day. It's a slow process, but the end result is worth the work. In a pinch, just out of curiosity, I tried testors clear coat or something similar, which was an improvement but not perfect of course. The very first time, I waited very little time at all before dunking the decal and ALL the ink disappeared! I can't recommend reading this guide enough. Even handling the things afterwards takes a delicate touch not to damage them. Some patience and this knowledge will work wonders. Especialy the tweezers. These decals were much more attracted to my fingers than the plastic. |

Great timing on this tut. I grabbed a bunch of supplies recently to try my hand at this for a custom I'm working on. Thank you for this!

You're welcome. BTW, I design/illustrate all my artwork in Adobe Illustrator. The vector graphics you create in that program give you bold sold colors when you print them. Good luck!

Waterslide decals rock! I have a buddy who sells them to make custom LEGO figures. (Not sure if I can link to his site - PM me if you want it) He as created a bunch of labels for my stands and even my Slaughter (see my avatar pic).

After seeing Hasbro's lumpy old Sgt. Slaughter, I've almost completed my own "heroic" version of him. PM me if you're interested in acquiring him for your collection.
