I have a bunch of army painter paints and they word great for me. I use them for detailing and Tamiya for bigger projects. I don't clear coat more then I do but when I do I either use floor wax if I want a slight shine to something or Tamiya flat clear when I don't want a shine.
sometimes I will use other brands of paints when I need a certain color. I don't like mixing my own paint, its a pain. I don't prime figures, I will vehicles (with primer paint). on figures I give them a good dry brushing in a white wash. this gives me an even base to work from since substrate colors will tint your base coat. so, if your building a figure and his parts are 4 different colors and you got to paint him green that green could come out slightly different on each color you go over. you could just keep putting coats of paint on till you get the color you want but then you will have waaay to much paint on him and it will look like it. |

I use the Vallejo Matt Varnish on all my figures and it works well. It just adds a little extra protection, and gives a slight "plastic" look. Like the previous post, I don't mix paints so I use whatever acrylic paint brand that matches the figure best.
I can't tell how many times I've gone to Hobbytown for a planned 5 min visit and then spend 20 min trying to decide between a few colors. Anyway, I like the Matt Varnish a lot.

Vallejo matt varnish is top notch! If you want your figure to to have a retail shine use vallejo satin varnish, it is also top notch. I don't care for the gloss varnish. It leaves the figure sticky and is way to glossy. Don't bother with it.

Question for the sculptors. I've made a cast from Milliput and glued it on to the chest of a figure, there's a bit of filling in to be done all around the glued on piece. Should I use Green Stuff or just continue with Milliput? What's the best in your experience? Thanks in advance.

Has anyone ever matched the color for either the moray or the piranha? I'd like to find a match so I could paint 1 of the true heroes moray imitations to match my moray. Thanks.

Is there such thing as a customizer tool that's a thin rigid metal plate that has a narrow cut on one edge the width of a Marauders wrist peg for use in applying leverage to remove the hand from the forearm?
I wonder if a tiny fork would work. |
