Looks like 25th carded flint had the old bad arms, so his non-gloved hands won't fit the later arms.
I picked up 2x ROC Hawk's today and the arms are both pretty puny, but also the wrong skin tone. He seems to have a rather pale, almost bluish complexion. I thought it wouldn't be a problem if the arms didn't match the face, but it's noticeable. On the Croc Master hands: what Flint arms do these match? (skin tone wise) I was looking through some figs and TONS have the Flint arms, but in all different skin tones, molded flesh tone, painted flesh tone etc.. Try the forearms from the COBRA Flint. They should be a perfect match to the Croc Master hands.

hope this is the right thread, as I thought there was another thread like this but is now gone...
anyways, JUST STARTED CUSTOMS!!! WHOOO!!!! I have some stuff painted already, some of it went well, some not so well. I'm using the Testors Model Masters Acrylics, which seem to work well. I have some Loew-Cornell brushes as well, which are not natural hair (whatever that is called). Anyways, some questions: How often should I 'rinse out' my brushes? Should I get paint on the brush, apply it, then rinse, reapply, etc? Because I seem to be having problems getting the brushes good and clean. And if there was some paint left in it overnight, can I just soak it in water to get it clean? I got some clear windex, but it is windex w/ vinegar, which was the only clear windex i could find. Is this equivalent to clear windex? When I paint, in most cases I can see my paint strokes... will these go away with more coats? Thanks in advance! |

Dip them in some rubbing alcohol and agitate the brush a little followed by a thorough rinse with water. Brushes may retain some "color" from the previous paint so try to designate certain brushes for certain shades(light, dark, bright, metallic...etc) Testors MM should be OK with just a few drops of water. Brush strokes can be reduced by applying thin coats to start, more coats may only intensify it. Your base coats will ultimately decide how the paint turns out so start slow & remember that practice makes perfect. If you haven't seen this, go look ! > Jin's Basic Custom Figure Painting Guide That is probably the best action figure/paint tutorial out there. (EDIT: er...or "soon to be 2nd best" according to Dr.Nightmare ) Have patients, nobody ever became a pro on their first few customs |

I remember reading somewhere about painting digital camo using salt.... how did that work exactly? I just want to do a simple digi camo pattern and use the base color of the plastic as the base of the camo... and only use 1 more color.

How DARE you. That's only because I haven't made my tutorial yet. :P
I have this short video, applying a basecoat, and other tuts that no one seems to know about still lol. Basecoating by DrNightmare The tapping on the paint-pot is to work the paint into the bristles a little more to mix it with the little bit of dampness in the brush. This thins the paint on the fly and gives you smooth coats. I was using less paint than usual, you should use a little more so your strokes have more coverage. You don't need windex, I don't know why people use it X_X Yeah, cut the legs off, then glue them back together, then sculpt any details you lost. |

Basecoating by DrNightmare I think it's cause it has a surfactant in it, apparently it works as a good thinner for Tamiya. I've never used it but have seen great results from people that do use it although I'm sure water would produce equal results. The pros that know paints say Tamiya is alcohol based & that rubbing alcohol is best to thin Tamiya. It comes down to what you are used to really |

Noob question, guys and girls. I am not a customiser (I wish I was though!) but I have a couple of figures that need a bit of paint work as they had paint flaws when I took them out of the package (ROC Duke, 25th Lady Jaye and Hawk). Only minor touch ups are required so I don't want to spend too much money buying paints.
I found this set on Amazon, it's only £5 (about $8) for 18 acrylic paints and 2 brushes, do you think it will do the job? Here's the link to the product: 18 Acrylic paint set: Amazon.co.uk: Toys & Games Thanks |

Is there a way to remove IG Destro's cape? I want to remove his red cape and replace it with a different color, so I don't just want to cut it off. Does the black 'sash' thing that is holding it on come off, and if so, can it go back on? Thanks in advance!
