So as to not clog up the Classified Vehicle discussion with crazy ideas here is the Mattel Blast and Battle Xl-15 or the Greatest Classified Aircraft not made by Hasbro. Iron Ken 3000 over on YouTube has already shown off the GI Joe Conquest X-30 and Cobra Night Raven repaints. Night Raven image thanks to BodyMassage post. It has already been said that the XL-15 is very reminiscent of the Viper from Battlestar Galactica. Now I really didn't think Viper Mk II right of the bat but the atmospheric Viper from Caprica since I had quickly cobbled together a render with the colors of the vintage Viper (twin pusher prop in the show) that was based on the Flying Tigers. The way Buzz Lightyear ejects from the toy and his wing pack is the back of his seat and then deploys is very much like the VF-25 from Macross Frontier. Macross, Skull One, VF-84. VF-84, Navy, The bottom half of the toy is already light blue and Naval Aviation just had a centennial with F-18's painted like WW2 aircraft. Blue is Cobra Rattlers. Confusing to have the Joes with a blue aircraft in the same AOR. Back to Basics with the Army Air Corps with the D Day USAF A-10. Still couldn't shake space since the XL-25 is a space craft. Farscape? NASA, USAF? Edwards. F104. Bash together the liveries from the 1960's to the 80's The USAF NASA scheme also reminds me of the T-6 Texan II without having US Air Force across both sides of the nose. This keeps repaint to a minimum (top and bottom are the original colors) but has the most pinstripes with the two layers of gold over the dark blue plus the black stripes on the vertical fins. Clearly, I really like the XL-15 and favor the last render. Cobra will be getting an aircraft with the Fortnite Jazzware Choppa fitted out like a Little Bird so the XL-15 won't fit my Cobra aesthetic of the Choppa and the two Coils. The Joes already have two Halo Mantis (mantises, mantes, Manti????) that need to be outfitted and repainted. If I can get a GI Joe Sigma 6 Dragonhawk to modify as a Mantis carrier then the Vintage Viper or D Day paint schemes are the way to go to match the Ram cycle and a ground attack role. Lady Jaye is already equipped for flight duty but also have a ready made Cobra Astronaut. There is the Hasbro Fortnite Astronaut two pack that was a Target exclusive. Couldn't get it online, was never in store here and then clearanced at $14. Looks like an ebay purchase. Sadly the review of the female figure highlights limited articulation. Now, I was able to get one XL-15 locally and at the MSRP of $44. Iron Ken ordered two from Amazon, current price $41, but (according to his latest video) the shipment has been delayed. https://youtu.be/4VEg3MbEiio BBTS has it for $53. Hopefully, this stays on the market for a while without price increases. If this was just a dust collector on my desk at work it would be Lady Jaye with BSG Viper or an astronaut with the USAF NASA. Yet if I do BSG then it can't return to the Joes. What would you do? What schemes do you think would suit the XL-15? Oh and when I get around to it, this will be done with a brush and rattle cans. I am without my airbrush, color printer and work space.

A picture being worth a thousand words. Iron Ken gives us a video and a thousand words.
https://youtu.be/UIkzvkQ5TOQ He has Duke fitting great in the cockpit and with the figures hands on the little tabs on either side as flight controls. Ken mentioned two rivets that need to be heated in addition to the screws to remove for disassembly. Hope to figure out the disassembly this weekend. Edit: Ken painted his Navy Blue with Silver accents for a new Rattler look with paint from Walmart. https://youtu.be/R4UslMok97E Kind of confirms, even without decals, all blue is very much a Cobra aircraft.

Important housekeeping. The wings and fuselage are not symmetrical.
The Starboard wing, not mounted in the package, just slides on to the fuselage. The Port wing has screws and pins that pass through the fuselage mounting point. You will have to remove 4x #2 Philips screws then slide off the bottom blue panel first. Be careful of the springs. The top white panel was interesting to remove. Take care the center tap on the inside is just a guide, not a lock. I caused the white stress marks getting the top part of the wing off. The tab is just visible in the shadow adjacent to the firing button.

Starboard wing disassembled with details of the firing mechanism.
The wing tip is two halves, top and bottom, glued together.

Rivet detail from starboard wing mount.
There are 2x metal rivets inserted from bottom to top on the starboard wing mount. I didn't have a punch, hammer or a heat gun to remove them. I first shaved down both plastic dimples on the top side of the wing mount then soaked the mount in boiling water. Used a 7mm torx driver and tapped the rivet out with my hand. Soak and repeat.

Remove the remaining screws from the bottom to separate the fuselage.

The ejector mechanism is held in place by 2x Philips screws.

The slider, floor and foot rest are all one assembly that just rests on the bottom fuselage.

The slider latch rests in the top part of the fuselage. There is a spring on the bottom.
