Hey all, I'm trying to re-stock a few colors I'm running out of. I use Testors model master acryl paints. I heard a while back that they were discontinuing them. Does anyone know if and where there are still some for sale?
Or any stores that carry this brand? I know Hobby Lobby does but there is not any stores in my state.

You can try Ebay, but that's the only place I can think of. Model Masters is pretty much gone.
As far as an alternative paint goes, I haven't really tried anything else out yet. Anyone have some suggestions? |

Have you tried Vallejo?
I want to get my hands on some industrial plastic paint, or dye. |

Thanks guys. It looks like every place is either sold out or quadrupled their price on this brand. Bummer.

It's down to pretty much just eBay and Amazon these days. Other stores are just selling whatever they had left. Stocks are almost completely dried up at this point, but there are still some out there. And some of the older shades have been popping up in their place.
For alternatives, I've heard good things about Vallejo and Tamiya. More so the first. Citadel's chalky, but apparently you can add something to it to make it work for figures. Or so I've heard. Never gotten more info on it. Realistically, though, that'd be perfect. Citadel brands are so diverse that you'd be able to find anything you need without mixes and alterations.

I?ll have to give Vallejo a try. Anyone know where to buy it? Online or in a reg store?

Yeah citadel has great color shades but I would never use that brand again. It chips off the figure extremely easy. And I?m not just talking about at joints where they would be bent and posed (like elbows and knees). It flakes off flat surfaces just as easily were there would be no movement like the chest for example. Plus it dries up way too quick in the bottle after it?s been open which really sucks and is a waste of money.
I?ll have to give Vallejo a try. Anyone know where to buy it? Online or in a reg store? I was a Testors guy, too, and haven't had the same experience with Citadel, although I've only used it a bit. On the other hand, I think Vallejo sucks. I can rub it clean if with a thumb. Army Painter is pretty decent. Not quite as smooth as Vallejo, but a bit more durable. Tamiya is probably closest to Testors.

Did you check the brick & mortar stores that sell desktop RPG's? They have those board game pieces that they paint, so likely also sell paint. That's what I learned when looking for Tamiya Extra Thin.

I have always been a Citadel guy, but the quality has gone down over the past few years as they went from a simple line of outstanding paints to paints with all kinds of categories (base, layer, ink, wash, glaze, technical, da da da da da). I recently began using Vallejo Game, Air and Game Air (Air for my airbrush of course). I'm a big fan, because they come in squeeze bottles, so you can use as little as you want and like someone above said, they don't dry or clump out as fast as Citadel. And they go on smooth and strong. In addition, they are quickly releasing more and more colors and are close to the variety and quality as Citadel.
