I don't know how they did it, but the knee is like a ME knee, and there are bars going through each knee hole.
They must have sonic welded the bars after they slipped the knees on. You can't get the knees off unless you slice through the bar, and then glue it back together.

At first it stayed that way, but it straightened out as it cooled. It seems fine now.

So here is the CT Breakdown. With a hot water bath for about 40 sec, you can take the whole figure apart except at the knees.
The torso is kind of like the BFS figures, except the lower torso is not a tube: The Neck Barbell is equal on both ends:

Shock trooper legs do not work well with this Retro T-bar:
Due to the shape of the hip cup, you cannot close the legs. POC legs will not work with this Retro torso IMO.

EDIT: Or do you mean the pelvis itself won't fit the legs?

There was enough room for the top of the legs in the pelvis, but the misfit of the T-bar in the hip cup causes the split legs

The only point of artic you did not remove was the post/peg from the upper to lower torso. 2021-06-15_10-02-23 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr For the joints with the peg like legs (as opposed to ball), it felt safest to unplug the joint by slowly and firmly prying the peg to one side of the hole, then rocking back the other way and it's out. Twisting felt bad and dangerous, especially when all parts are warm and soft when prepping for disassembly. I do love the full 360 joystick range of movement at this joint. Previous joe figures simply had limited length slots in one or two directions that were extremely hard to move--so tight on some figures that you don't realize you can straighten or bend at the torso. Maybe the downside is that all the body parts are getting pretty bulky visually--something we'll have to get use to as//if these keep going. Below are more closeup pics to compare sizes and lengths of arms as well as plug sizes (for part swapping reference). Retro and MTF parts. 20210613_035127 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr For the 2nd to right, the plug head is noticeably longer. The tip can be cut, but is still long in the Retro Stalker hole. The Stalker arms needs to be dremeled to close the gap and to shorten the total arm length which really pushing close to the line of "too long". Other than that, the plug shafts are very similar if not a total match. 20210613_001200 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr Hands are all a pretty good match and swap out well (and easy) between all. Fits aren't tight, might rotate on you more freely than you'd like with guns in hand, and hands might look a little long in photos if you don't pack the joint with something and really push those hands in. Hand sizes are comparable between Retro and MTF to point that you'll forget which is which. I still think both these hands are to large for the 30th and older normal size figures but are acceptable for most everybody else. Still lots to unpack with these guys. Glad more people are getting this and helping gather more info for future customizing purpose. Super glad 46 Zone got his and is already getting a ton of info pics now as well. |

Harness:
20210613_143605 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr Harnesses on the new build Retro figures are initially removed from the figure by removing the legs from the torso, and sliding the harness off the shoulder then down. Harnesses for Stalker and CT no longer have the snap peg of most previous. This is good because the snap peg location tended to be a lot bulkier at the local area, and ruining a nice clean look. Things improved as the line went by as the snap peg got moved away from the front buckle (!) to the sides. Ideal place would of course be the back. New harness are either cast as one whole piece, or a glued together. CT harness is one whole piece, while Stalkers is glued at 2 locations at the back. Glued pieces can be disassmebled with heat, and carefully pulling the pieces apart. It helps to know exactly where you want to tear these pieces, so hopefully we build a pic library of the different molds. Not that on Stalkers, there is a button/notch cast into the pieces. If the pieces are pieces are separated correctly and cleanly, they will fit back together tight enough for most purposes without having to reglue. Also the belt waist width can be adjusted for slimmer waist by cutting and tucking in that back left side, up to the canteen, for a nice fit to the 30th SE or CT figure waist. May need to reglue to keep it secure though. Pics soon on the 30th figure, but feel free to test on your own. |
