Best ideas for chain link fence? I’d dig seeing some pics.

You can make a chain link fence using styrene, wire, and window screen. There’s tutorials out there but you may have to adjust for scale.

I’ll say it here because I don’t know a better place- posting pictures of your customs in someone else’s custom thread unsolicited on any forum is a party foul of the highest order.
I’m not calling out nor accusing anyone specifically- but don’t be that fucking guy! Future offenders will be put on blast!

Alright, I've got to be missing a step here. I just kind of jumped into customizing without really looking up a lot of tutorials or anything; I just found what paint people use, and started going to town.
Every time I start a project, by about 5 minutes in I've a got a stiff, frazzled paint brush with a bunch of half-globbed paint all over it. And once I'm done, cleaning it is a nightmare, as half the paint on it has somewhat dried. Cleaning the brush off in the middle of a project seems far from ideal, plus can a brush even be used when it's wet from being cleaned? Or is it just the fact that I bought the cheapest set of brushes I could find, and I need to be using better ones? I'm sure this is a stupid question, but my dumb ass can't seem to figure it out. What the hell am I doing wrong? |

What the hell am I doing wrong? I don't think I've had this problem even with the shittiest brushes I've used, so I'm inclined to think it's a paint issue, but can be certain until we know what you're using. As far as cleaning brushes midway- it can be done, but the wet bristles will have an effect- but it sounds like your paint may be too think and a little water might actually help. Or you just might have to take regular breaks and let you brushes dry. But again, I've never had this issue while actively using a brush, but brush fatigue is a thing if you are painting for an extended period of time and using maybe a thicker than usual paint.

I tend to paint a color in short periods, then rinse the brush out. I might use a different brush (while that one dries) to paint a different color on a different part or figure. Some paints need thinning, like putting a few drops of windex into the bottle and stirring it good.

I stopped at Hobby Lobby to get some new razors and found the Model Masters larger acryllic and enamel bottles were on clearance for $.99. A lot was picked over, but I still managed to get 13 different acryllic colors. You guys may want to stop in yours if you live near one.

Ax, I'm using this 5 piece set of brushes from Hobby Lobby that they sell for $4. They were literally the cheapest ones there. I have been using them off and on over the past 4 years, but I haven't done a ton of painting.
As for paint, I'm still using Testors Model Masters acrylic, and I do put a little water in to thin them out. Most of the paint's probably 3-4 years old, so maybe I need to put more water in. I usually just put a half dozen drops in to the bottle, is that maybe too little? I also don't stir, just shake the bottle for a minute. I hadn't heard the Windex trick, maybe I'll give that a try. |
