a while back someone told me about using testors model master acrylic paint. I bought the skin tone paint and used it on a few casts, and the skin tone looks very bright/vibrant and looks almost white!
if you know of any mixtures or of any paints, that are good for Caucasian skin tones, then please let me know! thanks |

This is a good question that I don't think it has a simple answer. I have been told by a few really good customizers that to find the tone you want it takes some time mixing colors to match what your looking for. That there is no real precise recipe. I would take a few close color tones like tans, peaches and mix them with a little of the Skin tone that you bought already and experiment a bit.

Thank you! I have a lot of desert colours, like tan, dark tan and sand. Then should I mix it with the skin tone, or with white paint?
Thanks What do you mean by customizing full joes/cobras? Thanks |

do both, try adding a little tan/ etc. to the skin tone and/ or white. sometimes a little yellow or red helps, too.

I'm not a customizer.....I'm a painter, and(in my experience) all you need for skin tones are four colours(white, green ,red and yellow).get yourself a cheap painters pallette and do a little experimenting and you'll come up with your own skin tones.just remember that you only need the tiniest amount of the red and green when going from light to darker skin tones.....good luck!

I think he means just customize figures with no visible skin showing so you don't have to paint skin tones. That's pretty much what I do! I know it's a little lazy, but I don't think I have the skill to do skin tones. I guess I won't know if I don't try.

Model masters has like 4 skin tones and tints. Withe the skin tones you have to do a mix with other colors to get the effects your looking for. But for the most part tans and browns go really well with the MM skin tones.
Like my Bigger boa he was a green hulk, it took 2 coats of a skin tone mix and came out really well. http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...igger-boa.html Also so that you dont waist the paint that you just mixed, I recommend you get paint jars from your local store. To save your mixes. Oh and also get a bottle of testers universal acrylic thinner. I add a few drops or so to all my mixes and paints. Doing this thins the paint down some. As some painta are on the thick side. This way you get that smooth finnish. |

So I use more of white and yellow, but very tiny amounts of green and red? Quote:

Hey I use the same paints and had the same problem- the skin tone paint just comes out way too white. I use tan now and it works perfectly.
