I'm sure this has come up before, but I was wondering what you all thought was the best clear coat. I've been trying my hand at customs and have been using Testors Clear Coat, but the figures are still a little tacky. I am of course looking for the best finish and protection. Thoughts?

If you use quality paints, you don't need a sealant. I use testors model masters acryl, let the coats fully cure for at least 24 hours. If your joints are properly prepped, nothing short of sandpaper will get the paints off the figure.

I've been trying the Citadel paints. Perhaps I am rushing a little and need to allow more time to cure.

Different brands of paints/clear coats are rarely compatible.

I've been experimenting with the Americana or Craft Smart acrylics from Michael's. They go on pretty well but do need sealing and so I used Patricia Nimmock's (it's about $5 a can from Wal-Mart) and it worked perfectly for me.
