Hey all, I finally got a MBT from Big Lots. I really like the colors it comes in buy I don't see the point in having a jungle scheme tank. My question is have any of you guys customized this vehicle and of so how you paint it?

Make sure you clean it well (I scrub everything down with Comet under running water with a toothbrush, and use a high grit sandpaper to prep broad, flat areas), and you might want to consider some light priming. I've had a couple issues painting PTE vehicles, most were due to color choices, but it is better to be safe than trash your tank. After that, just build the color up slowly with light coats, and be patient.

I've repainted the PTE rocket helicopter, I used Rustoleum's self etching primer (I love the color!) and had good adhesion so far, Remember, if you are painting over camo stripes, sand them first, or you will see them under your new paint!
oh, and flat paints like to absorb fingerprint oils, (especially primers) so use a flat clear sealer... I forgot to and now I have fingerprints all over my flat green fuselage! |

I guess I need to proofread my stuff better! I was meaning how you painted it as in desert, snow, jungle, etc. However this is my first PTE custom I'm attempting.

I'm embarrassed to say that I have been working on a PTE Tank custom for about two years now. It's my first custom so there has been a lot of trial and error, but if you go to my profile you can check out my album and see the work I have done so far ..... you will notice that I have chosen a desert theme, hopefully these pictures will give you some ideas of what you want to do with your project

Thanks for the criticism and positive feedback!!! As a "Newbie" I welcome both plus tips on how I could do things better. I was undecided on the bustle racks myself but went ahead with them since the Chinese incorporated the design on their Type 99 MBT. I also plan on adding a Shtora System and perhaps an ARENA-E Package but am still in the "concept phase" of how I'm going to work these features into the turret

I kind of wish they just went ahead with the Type 99 as opposed to the Type 98. I suppose having any Chinese-designed tank in Joescale is probably a small miracle.
