Is there an easy method to remove the black camouflage from the retaliation ninja dojo set Roadblock?
If I could avoid repainting him it would be a huge help. I have tried rubbing alcohol with a q-tip and after some intense scrubbing it barely got a little to smudge off. Any tutorials or advice is greatly appreciated. Just in case, this is the figure I am referring to: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_yzoKoPyxv...adblock+17.jpg |

Unfortunately I don't think there really is an easy way because the paint Hasbro uses has some kind of varnish added to it.
If you use Goo Gone on a Q-tip over time this can remove some small amounts of paint. Using acetone will take the paint off very quickly, but it can also damage the plastic, slightly melting it or leaving a white fuzzy look to it. If you use extremely small amounts of acetone and continue to run under water right after putting the acetone on, this will sometimes work, but there is high risk of damage involved.

Somebody here used Goof Off to get it off pretty easily. I know they posted a custom with it last year, but I can't remember who it was.

I use Testors/Polly Scale ELO, easy lift off. It works great and is safe for most plastics. I will say that if you leave abs plastic parts (torso and thighs) in ELO for too long they will become brittle and could break so use sparingly.

I did it with acetone with no problem. I don't understand why everyone is so scared of using acetone. If you use it right it won't hurt your figures. It doesn't do anything to the softer PVC plastic, but you have to use it sparingly on the harder (styrene) plastic as it will eat at it. Lightly swiping with a Q-Tip dipped in acetone will only leave styrene looking a little shiny, and that can be buffed out with steel wool, a scotch bright sponge or pad, or ultra fine sandpaper.
As for fingernail polish remover, the active ingredient that removes the paint is... you guessed it... acetone. I tried fingernail polish remover long before I ever tried acetone, and all it did was smear the paint. It was Alyosha that told me the conditioners in fingernail polish remover change the properties and I should use straight acetone. The good news is pure acetone is just as cheap. I bought some from the finger nail polish remover display in the cosmetics department at Walmart. It was $2. Just make sure you get the pure acetone type. I will try to upload a pic of the bottle tonight. As you can see the acetone works like a charm:
