Hey guys...I'm wondering if it's possible to remove a Retaliation GI Joe Trooper's scarf. I wanted to use the figure for a custom but I didn't realize that the scarf is actually attached to the neck (the neck peg actually appears to be glued on top of it...I'm not 100% sure what's going on there).

So, has anyone ever removed a Joe Trooper's scarf, and if so, how did you do it, and did it jack up the figure at all? And what's actually under the scarf, anyway?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

The scarf is just glued in. The peg is actually ON the scarf. Interestingly enough, the scarf bottom is about the same size as a RAH neckball joint and can actually fit in old style chests, allowing you to use new heads on classic bodies... as long as they wear a scarf!

So, is it possible to remove the peg and scarf and glue just the peg back on?

The scarf/neck peg is one piece. It separates like so: head, scarf (has neck ball coming up, and a old '86-ish neckball UNDERNEATH to fit in the torso), and then a torso similar to the '86 style. I'll try to take pictures tomorrow when I'm gooder awaker, but now super sleepy zzzz time.

Okay, cool. Thanks.

But does it seem like you could remove the scarf and glue the neck peg back securely?

Sorry for the response delay, I've been under the weather (dominator).

The scarf's plastic is pretty soft and I'm betting you could easily trim it away with an exacto knife. Judging by the colors, it's actually a separate molding from the neck peg, or seems that way.

Sorry for the poor quality pics... the pic shows the scarf-peg removed from the torso and head, and how I used it on an old school body.

Ever since Channing Tatum joined up with Joe, they have taken their fashion accessories very seriously.

Dolemite - the opening in the torso is very large compared to the neck. I slowly pulled a Mouse neck/scarf out of the torso, which looks like a modifed Shock Trooper torso. The scarf has a large flange that you can trim down to reinsert. But the neck is very narrow and simply glued into the scarf. You'd have to fill the torso with putty to get the neck to go back into the torso without the scarf. Best bet might be to just trim the scarf down and put webgear over it. It's a real shame that Hasbro modifed the Shock Trooper torso like this and made it almost useless for customs.
