Hey; I was recommended to head here for advice and suggestions, so here's hoping some kind folks around here can give me a hand.
I'm one of those weird Transformers fans who likes having toys of the assorted human characters; the fact that we never got action figures for the human characters from the live action films, excepting the tiny figurines used for the Human Alliance line, always galled me, so I recently got it into my head to make custom figures for them using GI Joes and similarly-constructed figures. Since I'm at it, I'm going to try and do versions of characters from some of the animated series as well, along with an OC. Here are the characters I'm hoping to make toys for... William Lennox - William Lennox - Transformers Wiki Robert Epps - Robert Epps - Transformers Wiki Jorge Figueroa - Jorge Figueroa - Transformers Wiki Patrick Donnelly - Patrick Donnelly - Transformers Wiki Graham - Graham - Transformers Wiki Marissa Faireborn - Marissa Faireborn - Transformers Wiki Misha Miramond - Misha Miramond - Transformers Wiki I'm also planning on making a version of Sam Witwicky as a soldier rather than a civilian (Sam Witwicky - Transformers Wiki), but I suspect he'll be the easiest of this bunch to get done. Beyond them, I also plan on doing a toy based on an original character; alas, I don't really have an illustration to go with her. Anyway, I've already done some looking around; I own a generic Joe Trooper from the Retaliation line, and I'm hoping that a headswap with one of the Mutt Williams figures from the Indiana Jones line will give me a satisfactory version of Sam. Beyond that, I'm open to any suggestions or advice. |

At one time SDS had Epps & Lennox heads. Angelforge has SDS heads, but I didnt see those 2. You could email them and see if you can get those 2.
The Angel Forge For a LBC, I once used a 25th Gen Hawk head for Lennox and Renegades Ripcord for Epps.

I was planning on getting a Renegades Ripcord for Epps anyway, though a custom head sweetens things. As for Lennox, I'd bought a Retribution Flint; depending on how things go, I might swap in the new head and keep everything else (though maybe apply a little paint). |

Also for Marissa Fairborne (aka Flint and Lady Jayes kid) Angle Forge has a pretty good torso
TF 00035 I am sure a couple of the female heads might be close to use also. Angle Forge is a good place to deal with.

Now if only I could find a proper torso and limbs for a woman in casual dress; the OC is a civilian, and at this point, the most suitable body I'm seeing is the one from the three-pack version of Cover Girl. |

Okay, so updates.
First off, I want to thank those who have offered their suggestions thus far. They're very much appreciated and I've taken them into account. Second, I haven't started any actual custom work. I have been buying guys here and there for the project, however, and if anyone wants to chime in, feel free. As of today, I own a Renegades Ripcord, a Retaliation Duke, a Retaliation Flint, two Retaliation Roadblocks (the initial version and the Battle Kata version), two Retaliation Snake Eyes (both from the Ninja Showdown three-pack), three Retaliation Joe Troopers (two tan, one blue), and an Indiana Jones Mutt Williams figure (the T-shirt version). The Roadblocks and Snake Eyes will probably not be used as customs, but the rest are either going to be custom fodder or get sold off. Anyway, here's hoping I can start putting up pics soon. Again, any suggestions are appreciated. |
