I have a few questions but did not want post several posts.
1.) I am having real trouble with cracking torsos. I have tried cracking, exacto knives and prying with a screw driver. I actually used all three methods on the two torso i opened and they are looking pretty mangled. Anyway suggestions or more in depth instructions? 2.) Has anyone ordered any torsos from Tri-Gate Creations? Do they come in pieces so you are able to install hardware and arms? 3.) On some of my current customs I need them to have arms bands - much like the arms bands the Nazis wore - and I am curious if anyone had tried this before or had any examples? I thought about sculpting, but would rather not. Thought about actual cloth but deciding against that. Last resort is painted on. So help please? Also I just won a huge lot of 25th Anniversary Joes on Ebay. 96 Joes and 14 vehicles. So by the end of next week I should have a huge list up for trades. I have pics of the lot if you would like to check it out and let me know what you need. Just PM me. Thanks! |

Until they start selling the torso joints (they have the hip joints for sale), you'll need to ask them which torso joint is needed for which torso as this joint is not universal.

The Trigate torsos are all designed to fit one of four sets or hardware and shoulder rings:
Snake Eyes v1 Storm Shadow Roadblock Scarlett I spoken with Dave about it, so this comes straight from the horse. As for torsos, I prefer to use the mallet method illustrated here: 25th Deconstruction Tutorial For armbands, I'd suggest sculpting them using green stuff so that your final part will still have a little flexibilty. Even microfiber looks off at this scale. Last edited by Alyosha; 01-11-2009 at 03:16 AM.. |

Also, don't forget that SE in particular is a very widely reused torso - most of the original thirteen, greenshirts, & at least one Duke come to mind.

using boiling water then dipping them in for about 3-4 min softens the glue and using a sock and a pair of channel locks with tape wrapped around the teeth to prevent grip marks apply squarely on shoulders and with enough pressure and they pop apart... a vise can be used also..... to much pressure can distort the upper arms slightly so be carefull
its the method i use and so far its worked well

1. I use the vice method, someone just did a quick tut on here do a search or hopefully they'll chime in.. basically I just wrap the figure in a piece of cloth and then put the shoulders against the vice part and slowly close it and "pop"
2.read above.. 3.What about electrical or masking tape for the armbands? cut it to size, stretch it around and then paint over it.. the paint should help keep the tape in place if it doesn't stick to the figure that well. other than that, you'd probably have to sculpt it on. Oh.. and I wanna see your vehicles!!!!! |

Could also try craft lace & crazy glue for armbands.

I also stongly suggest the vice method. They pop right open, and sometimes even the pegs stay intact.
I have sculpted the arm bands before with fixit. then I just sand them down with a dremel and sandpaper. |
