Does anyone out there do repro parts for the R/C Crossfire? I know there are a lot of sculptors and casters on here that cast figure parts and gear to help customizers expand their armies without having to dump small fortunes on amassing tons of figures just to obtain the gear that they need. But has anyone begun or is anyone willing to start producing some parts that are easily damaged or often missing from the vintage line? In particular, it's almost impossible to find replacement parts for the R/C Crossfire. I know in-tact W.H.A.L.E. vanes and Flagg deck clips are hard items to find in-tact, but with the Crossfire, parts for that vehicle quite literally almost never come up--so it's not even a matter of being a cheapskate trying to get a complete vehicle. It's basically a matter of not even being able to find those pieces to buy. I wouldn't even care if they were cast in the original color or not. Even if it was cast in grey or black, it would still be usable, lol.

If someone on here would make sturdier, more flexible W.H.A.L.E. Vanes. I think they would make some decent coin. I know I'd be down for 2 sets.

That will be the problem with the WHALE parts for example. You cannot cast them in resin and have them assemble as the originals, they must be flexible for the vane pegs to fit into the prop guards. I have a full set of original pieces and had intended to attempt the very thing you suggest.
It will take someone who has the capability to inject HDPE or a similar plastic or substance. This is not cheap. |

Well in the meantime, can I get some Crossfire rear guns, front swivel guns, and missiles? :P

I've made some but they are in black. I'm not happy with the mold. The molds are fairly easy to make. Just go to hobby lobby and buy the. Smooth on

Well if we all pooled some money together we could get a 3D printer and we could just build the parts ourselves and sell them to fellow tankers. Plus I could use a set of the Missile Pod holders for the Whale and the Night Stalker.

Not plausible. If a bunch of tankers pitched in , then why would you sell to other tankers?
Also. Not everybody wants and or needs repo parts. With a 3 d printer, I'm sure you could make better business making better stuff other than repo

shapeways, model and print them to match vintage parts and pick the right material. resolution isn't perfect but the plastics are very durable and flexible without breaking. not cheap though.
the days of molding parts are almost gone. when 3d printing gets to the point of similar/same resolution you will be able to browse a catalog and print on demand. it's not here yet but getting there, which is awsome for toy guys as you could then pick a vehicle, and simply pay for the printed kit of parts like a model. hell, might even be able to print built depending on the print technology used.

Quick question: has anyone cast another cannon for the Retaliation Fangboat?
