Thanks, I have never used a heatgun. Yeah getting the wings to line back up was annoying!

Nice! I am glad I found this thread! I wanted to do this from the first day I took the skystriker out of the box. I have one question though. I am assuming that the mechanism ONLY retracts the landing gear now...and that if you want to move the wings you move them by hand now...right? I was disappointed to see that it was a single pilot cockpit. Maybe they knew they were going to use it for the SDCC exclusive Seeker and that is why they did that...since they are only Single Pilot planes....who knows??
Are there 3rd party companies that make stuff for GI Joe like there are for Transformers? I am surprised that with that modular component with the front end that none have made a new cockpit with 2 seats. Thanks for making this tutorial. I will most definitely use it on at LEAST one of my SS.

I made mine into a 2-seater and others have also done it (way better than mine). I don't have styrene or the skill to make it from scratch so I took a second Skystriker cockpit and combined the two to make it a 2-seater.
Here's the thread: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...kystriker.html Just a few pics:

I am surprised that with that modular component with the front end that none have made a new cockpit with 2 seats. Thanks for making this tutorial. I will most definitely use it on at LEAST one of my SS. It's a single seat cockpit due to the new parts installed to connect the cockpit to the body of the plane. The main culprits being the "block" that plugs into the cockpit, and the screw port inside the nose. Those 2 things are not on the original but take up space in the new one. If the "block" is shortened on the body, there should be enough clearance to put another seat in. Even if you were to take out the seat arrangement from within the cockpit, you still have those 2 aforementioned parts blocking 2 seats. Can 2 seats fit? Yes, however 2 figures will not, unless you do knighthawk's seat mod, SuperFlanker's, nath1977's, et al. Having 2 seats is a very tight fit unless you cut down the body "block". Also the screwport in the nose gets in the way of the the figures legs. With my mod, the gorilla tape tightens the front landing gear, so it doesn't collapse forward when the plane is rolled on its wheels. Also the rear landing gear are secured by folding the doors back in(and by use of their springs). |
