Which is the best way to paint Joes. I am wanting to get more into customs and my paint brush just isn't working as well as I would like. Which is a better way to paint them. I want something that can do real fine details like eyes and smaller details.

It'd be next to impossible to do eyes with an airbrush... For eyes and really small stuff, I use toothpicks (somtimes sharpened with an x-acto for really small details) and sometimes the tip of an X-acto knife blade...

You might want to start over with new paints & brushes.
If you're not using Testors Model Master or Games Workshop paints (along with new brushes) you may get discouraged quite easily. Airbrush is a lot of work(cleaning/mixing) from what I've heard.

I never thought of the toothpick trick. I bought some realy cheap brushes and some enamel paint. I don't remember what brand. I will have to try the Testors or Games Workshop paints.

Enamel will not dry on 25th Joe plastic, the two I mentioned are acrylic, only use acrylics on 25th Joes.

get new brushes man! an air brush an eyes ain't happenin' bro! for eyes you need to take a pointed brush small tipped, an start out in the middle! flattin the tip out an work backwards to end in a point as you lift up the brush away from the head, an do the same for the other side of the eye start in the middle an go towards the nose! an for the pupil, jus dip a very sharp brush an dab a dot, or like the dude above me said he uses a toothpick

Iwata 4202 is the best Air brush out there. Now i tend to use both. Brushes and Air brushes. For the large areas hit it with some sprayable paint. tiny details use the brush....oh and the toothpick for eyes or such is an awesome thing!

I just finished a figure using my air brush and the finish is so smooth. Detail stuff like eyes, belts, I use brush and bottle technique.

...And don't get super-cheap black plastic-bristled brushes if you want good results... Go to the Craft section and get one of those packs of acrylic brushes - a good variety will only run $5-$10.
