I picked one of these up today to make into a modern Buzz Boar. I know a lot of people are interested in making Buzz Boars with them so for those interested this is what the basic Attack Cycle looks like with Joes.
Without Side pieces. With side pieces Front First up the Cons: -Costs $19.99 at Toys R Us - Side panels that allow the toy to roll look and feel really cheap. -Soft plastic guns on side panels, One of the guns was warped in package. - Center is solid piece the treads do not move. Seat and control panels are also part of the wheel mold. These can not be removed. - Paint apps are not that great especially for price. Now the Pros: -Cheap Side panels are removable, no disassembly required. Toy looks better without them. -Wheel piece of toy is made of really solid, great quality plastic. Saw teeth will not break easily. - Center Piece is held together by four screws and Wheel splits down middle into two halves. Will be easy to paint and customize. - Comes with a General Grievous figure that will make a decent Bat or Overkill custom base. -Stands up on its own even with figures in it. Doesn't need side panels to hold it up. - Size seems perfect. Its not too big or too small. Close in size to the old concept Monowheel tanks of WWI and II would be if scaled to Joe size. - Has two rotating clamps on front that can hold various items. Works great with Cobra staffs and most GI Joe guns I've tried. Holds some backpacks as well. Added bonus 30th Vipers rocket fits perfectly in the holes on side. With other vehicles Final Thoughts: I decided to roll the dice and buy this hoping to make a modern Buzz Boar with it. Was having second thoughts on the way home after dropping 20 bucks on it. When I got home and put the Viper in it though I knew I'd made the right choice buying it though. 20 bucks is a little high for it. Feels more like a 10 dollar toy the Grievous figure is great though, its super articulated and will make a good robot base custom. The 30th Viper looks great in it and all his accessories can be stored on the cycle with no modding required. If you want to make a modern Buzz Boar this is probably the best base you'll ever find. If you can find it on sale definitely pick it up. Last edited by sisco; 11-02-2011 at 07:14 PM.. |

Do you have a vintage buzz boar for a side by side pic? It looks pretty good!

Hmm, looks like it needs some painting and or a good sticker application. Do modern figures not fit into classic BuzzBoar?

i picked one up at tru also then found it for $16 at target. i quickly returned the tru and purchased the target one.
as far as customizing... i think that if one could fabricate doors for it, then the arms could be used as the hinge to allow the door to open and shut i would also use the sidecar as a substitute for the weapons on the orginial Last edited by jmc2915; 11-02-2011 at 07:25 PM.. |

That does look more like a Cobra vehicle than a Star Wars vehicle. I didn't realize they were $20. Are they cheaper at Walmart?

I've always thought of getting it for my Cobras too. Thanks for the review!

Thanks for the thread mate,i was thinking one of those would be a great base for a custom Gantz cycle:
Gantz Bike - SP Ride 03 - Figma ex:ride Is that Grievious cycle a re-release of the original?? Or a brand new version??
