What do you guys like better?
New and improved versions of existing Joes? Modern versions of vintage Joes that haven't been reintroduced? Completely original figures? I am purposely not listing the creation of non-Joe characters from Joe fodder, as this question is solely about which custom Joes are cooler to you. |

My favorites are modern improved versions of existing chracters. The new 30th line-up for example are simply amazing. I aslo love the POC Troopers, AV's, Vipers...etc... Resolute figs are also very awesome, especially Destro, CC and Roadblock. I mod pretty much every single figure I own to reflect those versions. That's why I do ultimate versions of characters.

I just am not a fan of making figures into exact copies of arah, only with modern tooling. I like to see when people make nods to those figures without completely copying. To me, when that's done, it just becomes an exercise without creativity.
So for me, new and improved is better. |

So for me, new and improved is better. I like to see little nods to a character, but with creative liberties. No reason someone should be a slave to the design of the old figure.. but instead just throw in a subtle hint that was iconic to that character, but make him your own.

I personally like modernized versions of existing characters as well. I have an idea for a modernized custom Jinx I will be starting as soon as I find all the parts I need, and some other ideas as well. I also thought of creating a new character or two, but it seems a bit "hokey" to me.

All are evenly cool depending on the execution of the custom.
An all new original character can be cool to see what can be imagined or how they fit into the Joeverse. I like to see updates to existing characters to see someones particular take on them also and seeing a new update that fits in with the 25th line or the POC line is also cool if Hasbro decided to never make the figure.

The customs that appeal to me the most are the faithful reproductions of ARAH figures in 25th style.
A lot of the others are cool too though. |

I like making modern versions of vintage/Spy Troops/VvV figures that were not made.
Here's some examples: Freefall: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...-freefall.html Ambush: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...oc-ambush.html Salvo: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...ern-salvo.html Barrel Roll and Blackout: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...-brothers.html Rollbar: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...4-rollbar.html I know, they made one for the ROC line but I don't consider him Rollbar...haha.
