Armored
Nightmare Ground Shaking Terror Long story short...I bought a Fury at Wal*Mart a month or so ago and inside of it was a Rage missing the mines and 2 missiles. After appropriating an actual Fury and the missing items, I wound up with an incomplete spare Rage. Mixing this and that together along with several coats of paint and (what I consider to be) a killer name, the ANGST is born! I'm still waiting on the rocket pod/cap from eBay, but for now, here it is! I can see Firefly rolling up and down the street in this thing! ~~ Lumberjill PS: I have been considering this for a long time now. This IS an expensive hobby, and there is nothing coming out until 6 months or so from now that is new. But based on these examples and my other pieces...is it even worth continuing customs considering the phenomenal work done by other customizers? Feel free to be blunt. Last edited by M. It looks pretty damn well painted sir, and as for your custom question I'm on the same boat I used to be into it every day but now I'll get a figure done maybe 1 or 2 a month now its sad but hey we all have lives we need to live, and don't be let down if no one comments or doesn't have any kind of suggestive comments to give you about your work. Everyone has their niche you just gotta find your angle and keep at it.

I love the vehicle mate . The figure is nice enough but having seen your other work you've done better (please take this as a compliment as it was meant as one).
You are very creative and I've always enjoyed seeing your work on S12. |

Man, if all we did was compare ourselves to other people then there would only be about three customizers out there. Just ask yourself one questions and one questions only. Do you enjoy doing it? If the answer is yes then keep going.

Let's see, the initial Fury that turned out to be a Rage was $20. Add to that the missiles at $23...followed by the mines (and an incomplete Rage) at $19. Not to mention I still wanted a Fury, which was another $19...making this tank mold a total cost of $81 for three tanks. Expensive.
I have always been overly critical of my own pieces. Comparing myself to others' work with enough time for improvement has been what has driven me to do better. Do I enjoy it? Yes and no. It is a torturous labor, but the end result (if done properly) has its rewards. I honestly thought I'd be further along in progression compared to the level I am at now...of course repainting a vehicle from the ground up is an errand for a crackhead. I do not know if I will continue customs or not, right now I'm 70% off the plastic crack addiction and once the ANGST is done...75%. Time will tell if the 6-month hiatus from Joe's will complete it. PS: I don't have any axes from the ROC Joe's, great idea though. Thanks for all the positive words Last edited by M. Aster Karver; 02-20-2011 at 11:19 AM.. |

Very nice, I really like LumberJill.
The only critique I have is literally just the buttons on the center console, they look "off" to me, can't put my finger on it. maybe just use flat paint there, not sure. As for customizing, yeah it get's pricey, but still cheaper than many othe hobbies, and if it brings you peace/joy/sanity/relaxation/satisfaction then there is no reason to not be doing it. Everyman needs a hobby! |

Yes, that is one of my problems with it, but I initially wanted something other than a bland console and I had clear paint on-hand. Just covered it over in silver, so that is done. Thanks
As for a hobby, I can relieve stress by going to the range! Last edited by M. Aster Karver; 02-20-2011 at 12:06 PM.. |

They both look really good - better than anything I've done. As for the console buttons, I think they look nicely backlit.

Great customs, coming from a even cooler person.
Dont give up on the hobby just take a break, we all go thru creative slumbers, and have to once again find our muse. Its just part of the creative process, right now...you need to focus on something else, till you get the itch again, and if you dont get it, then enjoy what ever you pick to take its place. One thing about customizing, your bitz box can never be to big, you can never have enough, and you will always try and talk yourself out of doing something. Thats when you push to get better, dont spend 80.00 plus on 1 custom, brake that up to by some cheap figures, and practice on them different techniques . Your level gets better by first you liking your own work, if you like it , all that matters. You do have some good stuff, and a style all your own, I would think having your own style would be better then doing something as good or the same as somebody else. Art is something you spend your whole life getting better at....we never stop learning, and when we can accept not every project will be the next masterpiece, then we grow, its better to grow slow, then fast. There are some that got in and out of this hobby, simply cuz they felt they had gotten as good as they could. Its why we created a online store, not just to make money from the hobby, but to give to it as well. Where is obi-shinobi when you need him? He will tell ya, you never become the master, you just keep doing it, thru practise comes positive growth. Obi will push ya, ya wanna learn follow his lead a bit. He doesnt take whats given to him as the be all end all, he pushes the f'n envelope as far as he can, so do alot of others, but Obi, really does shoot for the stars. anywho have not posted in a while and this thread hit on sensitive nerve......words of wisdom/rant over, lol |
