For only having 7 posts to your name.....I'll say they are probably all quality. That is awesome. What kind of battery source is used?

Haha! Thanks guys! I mainly customize Transformers, hence the low post count (that's gonna change!) but I've been customizing for years.
I'll take some pics of the materials I use. I use mainly SMD (Surface Mount Device) LEDs, which are intended to be installed (typically by machine) directly onto circuit boards. They are tiny, like 1mm x .6mm rectangular. It takes some practice to hand solder them but I've used them for years. For wire I use enamel coated magnet wire, thin as a hair but very good tensile strength, For the Wraith in particular, I used two AG4 button cells (3v total), I fabricate custom battery contacts with brass stock and encase them in "post it sticky tack" putty. The batteries are in the lower torso, which I have added screws, so they can be replaced when needed. The backpack has a battery holder made of styrene, along with the brass contacts. I used 2 x LR44 and 1 x AG10 (4.5v total) to power the sound chip. I replaced the solid squarish barrel of the wrist cannons with a hollow copper tube segment to look more like a barrel and allow the red LEDs to emit through them. The soundchip was from a $2 machine gun toy I found at Dollar General, but haven't seen them in a while. They use the chip in other toy guns too, usually ranging from $8 to $12. I'll snap a few pics of some of the stuff I use, I have been meaning to work up a tutorial for wiring up figures of any size for a while (I frequent proCustomizers and TFW2005) and this seems like a good enough time to get that rolling! Next up, Joe-wise I have a cool B.A.T. trooper and a "maxxed" out Deviant mech I'm working on, both wired up for business! Cheers! Last edited by BigHanksCustoms; 02-21-2011 at 04:15 AM.. |
