Over Christmas break, my son (11) and I worked on some projects together. I was telling him about some paper mache mountains my dad made for me and my brother growing up for our Joes. So we decided to give it a try. We went for something small to start, the remains of the corner of a building in the middle east. My son and I both made our own so we could work side by side and I could teach him.
Started out with cereal boxes, newspaper, paper towels, sand, masking tape, and glue. Used a flour, salt, and water mix for the paste. Did two layers of newspaper over the cardboard structure and floor. Then put a layer of paper towel to add texture. I painted everything with a dark base coat and then washed the walls in layers of light colors. Finally put a sand/glue mix on the ground and finished it out with some rocks. And sprayed it all down with a sealer and we were done. Finished it up with some marauder barrels, boxes, and such. Turned out nice. Working on designing my new display cabinet. Once that's done we can pick some larger projects to put in there. Enjoy! |

I watched this whole series on youTube. The guy makes a large paper mache dio for the movie 300. He covers everything. He has a ton of these projects on his channel. Very helpful.
