I entered this into a custom "Figure & their Ride" contest over at ToyCustomizer.com
This is an original character set in the Sectaurs world. The figure is Tortrix and his ride is a Formic Flyer I got the name Tortrix from looking at insect terms. (It's a genus of moths belonging to the Tortricidae family) I wanted to add the Cobra Commander mask to give more insect-like details to the head. Since most of the original figures had humanoid faces, I figured I could explain the mask detail as a breathing apparatus due to an old battle injury making it hard for him to breath in higher altitudes. The Formic Flyer was made from an old X-Men Brood figure with a new sculpted tail and head. I called it a Formic Flyer taking the name Formic from the book Ender's Game (There were bug-like creatures called Formics in the book) I then just added flyer to it to denote what it does. Originally I was gonna make a specific name for it but then I realised most of the creatures in the toy line had generic names (Dragonflyer, Battle Beetle, etc...) So to keep it in the same vein as those, I called it a Formic Flyer. You can see more pictures here: Tortrix with Formic Flyer Tortrix & Formic Flyer were made with: Head - Hiss Driver Antenna - Scarlett crossbow string Breathing Mask - ROC Cobra Commander Torso & Upper Arms - ROC Snake Eyes Lower Arms - ROC Impact Armor Duke Belt & Legs - ROC Terra-Viper Feet - SW Utai Sword - Storm Shadow Short Sword w/ sculpted blade Shield - Narnia Telmarine Shield w/ sculpted details Formic Flyer - X-Men Brood figure with sculpted details |

Simply awesome! I had a few issues of that comic back in the 80's and always loved them.

Great job! I actually thought you used a SIC figure as the base.

Sectaurs for the win!! One of the great obscure lines from our childhoods. Your figure is pretty faithful to the spirit of the line.
Good luck in the contest Shogi.
