Here are some preview pics that my sister sent me of something she's doing for me as a gift. Her hobby and passion is for making/customizing/furnishing doll houses, and does a ton of scratch work in the process. She's been published a few times in dollhouse trade mags as well, regarding some of her projects (in one, she recreated the house we grew up in, down to making dolls of each family member, and using actual wall paper samples that were up in the house itself in the 70s).
Anyway, she had made a single room dio, in her normal doll house scale a ways back that was of a game room (pool and poker tables, etc...). I had given her some input on it (not much), but tried using the force to get it from her once done - Turns out, it must have worked. She knew why I wanted the room, so she went a step further, and made a new one for me, using 4" scale furnishings, to better fit 1:18 scale figs. Here are some pics. The room, features working light fixtures as well (the one over the pool table is still pending. Having read some of the stories I wrote for my customs, she also added small touches like a newspaper "The Gotham Times", and there are several lit cigars in trays on the poker table as well. To give an idea of the level of work she is putting into this - the club chair has a base as a regular plastic doll chair. My sister has reupholstered it in real leather for purposes of this room! I don't have it in hand yet, but will post some dio pics when I do. Overall, I think this is very cool. I tried to buy/trade for her work, but she insists on making it a gift. She does have one 4" scale house of her own, and I am making her a man of the house figure to go with it (it's a 40's era set-up, so I'm modding a Henry Jones Sr. fig to do the trick), but that trade is woefully lopsided. Also, I'm pretty sure she does commission work, if anyone likes this, or has any other kind of room in mind, a bar, or anything. I know a lot of people would rather do this themselves, but for me its perfect, since I'd much rather stick to customizing figures only. Last edited by Dr. Bindy; 12-24-2018 at 02:53 PM.. |

Nice. You gotta get one of those Hallmark Pac-Man arcade cabinet ornaments to put in there.
