The new AWE Striker looks hideousness, let's be honest. Tan this, black that, and some puke green just to be different. Looks like they used parts from the desert one, night one, vomited on some pieces, and amalgamated it. So the Frankenstriker (as I call it) turned into an LBC considering the level of details I normally do on vehicles. This is an all-black version sans the mud on the tires/frame and the added silver behind the headlights, which were needed. It still looked too basic. So I lopped off the camera and both antennas and thanks to James Rhodes and the Air Force, the new and improved Frankenstriker has become the preferred vehicle for desert/jungle night warfare.
The removal of the antennas is no big deal with the massive technological improvements over the years. The camera is now hidden from view, making it less likely to be destroyed by enemy gunfire. In place of those antiquities are three strategically placed miniguns. The ammunition for them is stored inside the Frankenstriker frame and loads into the guns at the attached base. Im hoping to catch a few of these at reduced prices later on. The AWE Striker isnt something Ive had my hands on since Crankcase was behind the wheel in the ARAH days.
Overall I like this, without the first hand experience of the orginal in hand. But I am intrigued by the lights and adding silver to it. . . is this a similar thing that can be done to the new VAMP, and if so, what did you exactly do?

Nice simple upgrade to a lame recoloring of an old classic. I hope to find some on clearance later for a mild custom Cobra Strikers (dark blue, and a few up grades). Did the guns come from Iron Man War Machine?
PS, I dont consider this a lazy (lbc) custom at all. I always say, if the basic product is good and only needs paint, stickers, and a few upgrades, do it. a good final product is a good final product. |

Yes, the weapons are from War Machine. I had to buy 2 of the movie series ones in order to get the appropriate required amount.
In order to do the silver behind the headlights, just push the opening in the back of the AWE Strikers' light frame. They'll pop out with a little pressure and go back into the frame just as easily. I did the silver first and while that is drying, do the black around the back and sides. I am not sure about the VAMP as I have not tried it with that yet. It would make sense though if the lights pop out of it easily enough. Thanks guys for the thumbs up |
