Hello all,
I apologize in advance for the mediocre pictures; a new digital camera is much needed, I know. I've been lurking around for a while, and just recently I have decided to enter the fray of re-collecting Joes. What better first post/pic than an actual H.I.S.S. tank? Specifically, I can tank T.J. Maxx, Ross, Big Lots, and Marshall's for their resurgence of certain figures that I particularly like - all at reasonable prices. I can also blame a friend of mine for all this latest addiction as well. Anywhoo, I present to you all my originally UPS-brown H.I.S.S. Tank v5 that I did a simple paintjob to. I used Testor's model paint. The grey is 'Flat Aircraft Grey' and the black is simply 'Flat Black.' I think they are suited very well for both urban, and possibly arctic environments aside from my living room carpet. I just positioned the ammo cartridge belt by the minigun for effect. Came with Gung-Ho's minimi that I snagged from a 2-pack I picked up from Ross. To the right of the tank are some of my favorite POC figures: Alley Viper [x2] and Firefly. Obligatory blue-shirt [Bazooka Trooper] gets to ride biotch in the back of the H.I.S.S I know it isn't to the creative levels as some of you other folks here, but I'm very satisfied. Al |

Welcome to the 'tank!!!
I love the clean lines and "windows" look to it. So for that I give it a 4 out of 5. The only thing that keeps it from getting a 5 out of 5 is the lack of weaponry. By that, I mean the HISS has 2 side ports foe additional cannons and even the back bottom lip has an opportunity for a twin gun. |

I saw your title and was like, "De-UPS?????" Then I got it.
What can brown do for you? The answer is, "Make you wanna repaint it." And that you have done, sir, very well. I like it! I'm just gonna wait to try to get a black one. My last endeavor at painting a vehicle soured me on trying again for awhile. But you did a great job. Welcome to the 'tank!

Thanks again, guys/gals... I'm located in the Tampa, FL area.
I was very pleased with how it came out. I like the texture the best as it adds a tad of realism to the vehicle. I've got my eyes on some vehicles that I've seen at Big Lots, TRU, etc. Namely, the Blackhawk, Little Bird, HH65 Dolphin [USCG] caught my attention. And they're relatively inexpensive too. The MH60 little bird is around $15, Dolphin is about $20 and the Blackhawk is $30. Those will definitely be more detail-oriented. Question for the customizers in terms of rattle-cans: Are the Testors, Tamiya, etc. brands that the hobby shop sells mainly the best as they're 'hobby-specific'? That is, when I bought aircraft flat gray, I was pretty sure it would match what I wanted. I ask this, because I'm thinking about doing a few more projects with typical camo/flat in the Krylon normal sizes. |
