I'm going to slowly be adding my finished customs to this thread. I've just recently started doing custom Joe's and I have one finished that I'll post with this thread as a starter. I used to do custom Star Wars figures years ago, but I've since found more fun re-creating the Joe favorites of mine as a kid.
First up, my first custom G.I. Joe - Airtight. Parts used: Body - 25th Barbecue Upper Legs - RoC Pit Commando Head - Norman Osborn Iron Patriot variant Accessories - (Backpack, helmet tubes, gun, gun tube) 85' Airtight Helmet - Resolute Duke Check further down the thread and on other pages for more customs added. Airtight upgrade - helmet off Airtight upgrade - helmet on ***(Parts lists for the customs below can be found under the added pics found through out this thread)*** Mercer, Cobra Viper Mercer, Renegade Taurus, Renegade Red Dog, Renegade Jinx Zandar Sci-Fi Lifeline Last edited by Phizz127; 11-23-2010 at 06:45 PM.. |

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I appreciate it. Yeah, I was really debating using that head due to the rarity of the figure, but I had a little luck when searching for them and managed to pick up 2. One card was pretty beat up, so I decided to go ahead and use it. Perfect choice for sure. The head is also around the size of the Resolute Duke head, so it fits the helmet nicely.
I originally was using Flash's head, but Norman definitely brings out a better and closer look for Airtight. |

Wow! That is a sweet custom! Wish Hasbro would make it. I'm just worried that it'll end up being the GiJoeclub that will make Airtight and I'll end up never being able to get one.
Great job on yours!

COMMENT:
I dig it. My Airtight is a WiP, but there is alot of similarities between what you have and what I'm working on. Very likely the chest will be a match, and although my interpretation of the head is completely different, I love what you did with yours! Nice representation/use of the classic style. He fits right in with the modern lines the way you did it. QUESTION: Did you mod the neck at all? Looks like you extended the upper body suit up on the neck. . .

Thanks for comment. As for your question, the only thing I did to the neck was paint it. The collar came up some but the bare neck was exposed the rest of the way to the ball joint. Since the skin tone of Barbecue was a lot lighter than Norman, I painted the neck and under the head black to act as an undershirt.

Is that the 25th Orange BBQ or the Yellow TRU BBQ you used for the base?
