thanks guys.. and the steps were tricky. it's a powder, and i did it like how you would do sand or any type of flock, if that helps. spray, lay some down , shake, let dry, and keep doing it til you get the results you want.

Ok some more questions here, bought a ton of crap to use to do this and don;t wanna waste it.
1) you fleshed out everything on foam core correct? then filled those areas in with newspaper and masking tape that i can tell? 2) Then you covred all of that with plaster wrap? What brand of plaster wrap did you use and where did you purchase it? The wrap I got from hobby lobby looks like guase with glue on it I guess. Is that the same kinda stuff you used? And did you wrap the entire surfcae inclduing the exposed foamcore and all of the edges? 3) Did you leave the masking tape in place when you wrapped it with the plaster wrap? 4)did you apply any type of primer or paint before your first spackle application? or did you just splat the spackle down on the plaster wrap and the foamcore board or just the foamcore board? I also read that spackle is not intended to be in heavy clumps did that cuase you any probelms with the textruing you did in front of the large snow drifts in the back? 5) I see you say you "flocked" the powdered spackle down onto the surface after it was wetted with a spray water bottle I assume? Did you consider using the spray popcorn spackle/texture stuff? Think that should get me going! thanks! |

here you go man, i hope this helps.
ok i built the whole thing out of foam core, in hopes it would be sturdier then cardboard. i then filled in the areas with news paper, and masking tape. make sure you tuck the paper real good and make it tight, it gives it a better look. i used plaster cloth, it is a gauze that is covers in plaster, here's where i got it, it's the best deal you will find anywhere. you pay 8 a roll i paid 14 for 8 rolls. Creative Mark Plaster Cloth (Box of 8 Rolls) - aswexpress.com and i covered everything with this, did 2 coats some palces, but i don't recomend it. and i also recomend doin small pieces at a time man, the longer the pc the harder it is to work with. the masking tape stays on, it helps everything stay in place nice and tight. tight news paper is key, and get creative when you put the news paper down, make ledges and what not.. and i mean tight, like rock hard.. i didn't spray no primer before the spackle, i sprayed water, shook powder on it, let dry and shook off, did the same thing over. and then i would spray it down a few times to make sure the spackle was getting all wet so it can harden. i just threw clumps down for hills and mounds before hand. the spackle i used was 45 and 5 min, either one is perfect for the clumps, it dries fast as hell where it wont warp anything. remember this spackle only dries fast depending on how you mix it, to much water it will never dry, to less it dries in seconds. it's tricky man.. i used a spray bottle with just water, this will take you a few days to do man, you want to make sure it is dry. after said and done, you want to spray it good again, and make sure the water penetraes the powder, and let it dry, then i primed it with primer, and sprayed it on , if you brush it will pull the spackle up when you gets wet. spray is the best way for a base coat and it will harden the spackle up. then you can brush a coat. the sprayer i used is cheap and easy. i will get you a link of one so you know what it is.. Preval | Affordable & Portable Aerosol Spray System just follow the directions, you will have to cut the paint down, but it tells you the ratio. i used high quality house paint, but that is because i am a painter for a living and have products at my finger tips, i recomend cheap walmart house paint for you so you don't have to spend lots of money, my paint is like 35 a gallon. and the textured cieling crap, i didn't use, well popcorn is styrofoam balls, smothered in spackle dust. that is all. in the can, i really don't know what that crap is, but i wouldn't use it, besides it will get expensive. five min spackle mix is 4 bux for a box. and the box will last you years doing this crap.. i think i got your q's answered. it is hard to do this over the comp. if you were closer i would just show you personally. i really made all this shit up in my head and just went to town. a quick tip. when you wrap the pc on the foam core, it will buckle and warp from the moisture. when drying, weigh it down with some weight so it dont warp on you to keep it flat. i ran into a few snags, but figured out ways to work around em when they aroused.
