Thanks for all the comments. I originally had the plow, windscreen, and brush guard as black but I didn't like they way it looked. I also attempted silver again didn't like the looks. I left the windscreen grey to add more color, so it wouldn't be too white

Grendel, the more I look at this thing, the more impressed and jealous I am. Could you also tell us how you attached the treads to the H2, what paint you used, and could you show a pic of the green toy's seat in the other Crusher you have? I'm interested in making one just like this, and then cutting the back off another and making it the pick-up version with a gunner in the back just like Inception, and maybe that seat there, too.

I have attached the pics of the donor packaging. I have only seen these at TRU in the sports, McFarlane, movie toy isle. It was on clearance when I bought it. I think I paid 9 something. It is usually around 12.00.
PAINTS Primer: krylon grey primer for wind screen Testors 1245 Gloss white for the Main body of the Hummer Testors 1258 flat white for the trim. On the Steel crusher the areas that are flat black, mirrors, bumpers, wheel well covers, roof rack I painted flat white you can see the difference in person if the lighting is right, but thats the look I was going for. The plow and roof rack ended up being a combination of the 2 Testors and Model Master classic white spray. I was having issues with the paint on the plow and roof rack it just wasn't covering right, then I couldn't find more Testors. TREADS: These were really easy. I just pulled them off of the bar on the vehicle (the main hubs unscrew and are 3-4 pieces you don't need to unscrew it. it does not help with disassembly) just grab twist and pull. I then drilled the center hole a little wider for the wheel bar from the steel crusher (accidently went through on the rear left) and glued them on the bar. the treads are rubber and actually roll (about as well as the new HISS) mine are not play worthy. you could shorten the bar a little bit and notch the body (there is a tab on the treads) and it could have "working" treads but that is a little beyond my skill. There are the new Tonka vehicles that you can modify that have a set of treads (which I bought initially) which are solid plastic with wheels(classic HISS) I saw this and liked the treads better. The treads are roughly the same size so if you can't find this, there is a fall back SEATS: I haven't modified my other one just yet. when I had this one disassembled I did a test fit to see if it would work. I've seen others here that made their own seats (again beyond my skill) saw these sitting there and tried it and liked it. I was actually going to remove the rocket launcher but didn't have anything to replace/cover up the hole so I reattached it. Thanks again for all the compliments |

Thanks, Grendel. I remember seeing those Green Beret toys. Going to look at TRU today. Is this the Tonka toy you are talking about with similar treads? Tonka Mod Machines System DX5 - ATV - Hasbro - Toys "R" Us
