There was a contest this summer that I intended on entering. - Daremo's Kumite competition. This was the basic build I had assembled for that before being sidetracked. It was going to be a jungle fighter with Paraviper head and PoC Spirit machete. He turned right around in Kamakura very easily when that timeframe on that one got past me.
This is also my first use of any fleshtone paints. I was never happy with any premixed that I purchased. Mostly because they were usually very thick and unusable. Thanks Testors. I mixed this one in the spring and if memory serves it's white, desert sand and little earth red. Possibly a hint of green. Parts Used Head: RoC Firefly Torso: Viper Arms: City Strike SE Legs: PoC Jungle Storm Shadow Assorted PoC and RoC gear Hood from Arctic SE All paints are Testors Model Masters or Pollyscale Acrylics War Pac Grey Green Darker wash of the above Dark Grey Gunship Grey Aircraft Interior Black Custom fleshtone Wash of Earth Red

I love it. The only thing that looks off is the gray from SE arms in the joints. Other than that this is one of the best takes on this character I have seen.

Yeah. I just feel it's better to leave arm joints, leg pins, etc. unpainted. I would typically look for a match or similar color, otherwise I am cool letting it go as most times the paint will wear down. I have also stopped coating mine as most sealers and coats I found leave a sheen to the figure even when matte. I'd rather my colors stand out. Thanks!

^ I had no idea about the sheen on the matte sealers. I have a trooper I just painted the yellow webgear, knee joints, and knife holder black and was going to seal it up.... dammit. haha.

It prob depends on the sealers. What I have access to at craft stores, even when it says matte it shines so subtle differences between colors like aircraft black and flat black don't do noticed. Gloss paints still looks glossy, but everything else looks wet. The paint on sealers may work better.

I'm loving the look! Very urban ninja. I've always imagined Kamakura to be an urban ninja. You brought that to life!

Really looks good! I'm especially impressed with the arms, and the custom tone is excellent. I have to admit though, seeing Kammy without a hint of armour is pretty radical; it works, though.
Putting my two cents into the Sealer debate, I find the DullCote kind of mooshes down the intensity of colors and blends them a bit, good for fabrics and flesh, but it actually eats away at gloss. Weird.
