Ok, so I really dig my newest Batman. While posing him (ok, dammit, I was playing), one of the very thin sculpted ears broke. Somehow I managed to glue it back into place, but in the back of my mind I knew I wouldn't be happy with something so fragile that the figure couldn't be played with.
I was happy with the previous conversion from the Guardian head to Bats, but I know it wasn't popular with everyone. Luckily, the broken ear gave me the push I needed to try out a new Bats head I had been contemplating. This one is a real Batman head (from the same Gashapon set as my Catwoman head). It's perhaps a touch too small, but I won't lie, I love it. It's maybe too cartoony. It doesn't match up nearly as well with my unmasked Bruce head, but I like it a lot. (On that note, I chalk it up to Bruce taking on a meaner persona when he wears the mask) So, here it is for you all to tell my why I should or should not be happy with it ;) Also, I took that revision as the opportunity to fix up the utility belt better. It had cool pieces before, but looked sparse. I sculpted a couple extra pouches, and I also changed the color to kind of a khaki, as an homage to the yellow or gold belt. Plus, it now looks a bit more militarized, which fits better in my verse. I'm posting a ton of pics with this, to show off this bats with various other figs and get a perspective of how well it turned out with the new look. |
