Mkay, can we get some love for Cross Hair? Who likes them their Cross Hair?
I do. I could say a lot about this figure, but I'm tired and midterms are coming up, so I'll just copy what I wrote on Figurerealm, and provide new photos. "This is Cross Hair. Originally created as a sniper for Spy Troops way back in 2004, this was one of the few Joes I actually owned. He was also my favorite: basic, no-nonesense military design, removable gear, and he looked like Father Mulcahy from M*A*S*H. What more could you ask for? Well, an update for one. But that never happened... So, when I got into customizing a few years back, good ol' CH was one of the first ones I wanted to make. In fact, his look helped to inspire the uniforms on the rest of my Joes! Unfortunately, making the figure was harder than planning it. I decided to sculpt the upper arms... And found my skills in that area sorely lacking. That delayed the figure by a year while I worked up my skizzels. Next came the head. I was tempted to use the basic Pitt Commando head, but eventually decided on Carnor Jax from Star Wars. Not wanting to customize said head, I decided to cast it... and further contributed to the figure's year-long cast time as I taught myself casting. Wasn't fun. So, after a year of working and assembling the parts... I managed to do the paint in just a few sittings; probably less than a week. A little dissapointing. And so here he is: Cross Hair. Recipie: SW Carnor Jax-- Head (cast) RoC Pitt Commando-- Torso, lower legs, vest, hat, skirt 25th Night Creeper-- Upper arms (sculpted) 25th Beach Head-- Lower arms, thighs And that's it. Please comment. and have a groovy week. Hrothmeir out" Okay, so that was the write up. For those of you who want to see the figure pre-paint, please check the WIP thread here: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...hrothmeir.html Thanks in advance for any comments (comments containing hints on proper skin-tone painting are VERY welcome) and have a groovy week. Hrothmeir out.

i like the idea of using the beach head lower arms ( i may have to steal that for the Ambush custom i want to do). I think the desert ambush duke torso might have been a better choice (i like the untucked shirt sculpted rather than that awful looking "skirt". i wonder what the Beach Head vest would look like?
great job on the paint apps. |

Hey, thanks. Yeah, the Duke torso would probably work better; it looks the same, yet is one peice. As for the Gear: I totally agree on single-card/RoC Beachhead, it would match up with the origional CH designs more.
And yeah, that would be great for Ambush; can't wait to see it. (Include a T-Rex, please!)

Thanks all; glad you like it!
Yeah, I have too much fun drybrushing; it was either this or green with a black wash, but that always looks kind of.. dull, I guess. I find that even when a figure is supposed to have flat colors, it just adds that little bit of zing that makes it work.

That is one nice looking Cross Hairs figure! I always thought that Cross Hairs was one of the cooler characters to come out to the New Sculpt line of figures, and you have made a very cool figure to match that character!

Thanks! If I ever manage to get my hands on a RoC Destro, I can make C.L.A.W.S. commander (the second coolest-looking New Sculpter) and finish off the set!
