Thanks for all the comments! really appreciate it!
@Mandingo Rex - yeah i've been trying to find ways to get rid of that "shine"...I tried using flat paints but most of them come out looking chalky....never worked with flat clear coat though...is it easy to use? you just apply a layer on the painted parts? does it cause paint to run? any tutorials on how the coat figures correctly? @Black Swan - thanks! will hopefully add to the Cobra ranks soon...hard to think of ideas though...would want to add a Scrap Iron, Wild Weasel, Mindbender & Copperhead to the ranks....we'll see hopefully others can come up with other great ideas! @UltraMagnus2008 - yeah I couldn't stand the fact that the ROC Gung-ho looked so PUNY....he had to stand toe to toe with Roadblock...so I had to do something about that |

Testors » Model Master » Acryl Paints » Clears » Flat Clear Acryl Acryl - 1oz. Bottle I find that I have to brush it on and just be careful with some colors. Flats do come off easier than gloss, and black, browns, reds and silver tend to come off quicker than most colors. You just need to be careful as you're applying it. It goes on milky and dries clear, just don't get a lot of buildup or bubbles as they can dry thicker and appear crusty or leave a sort of semi-opaque white in folds and pits. I clear-coat damn near everything now, as it helps to protect the paint, tie together the finish, and also hides pittting and scratches on plastic. You can also use gloss clear to make flats appear glossy, if it's something metallic, or glossy like goggles or weaponry. I don't use it as much, but occasionally for details. |
