Okay kids, Im working on this right now. I think its a great idea to get the 'Tank on a positive, "have fun", let the best man win ...yada yada. Lets get pumped up on all the talent here, no nay-saying (its in my rules!) It will be simple and a great way to appreciate our fondness of Joe collecting. IF YOU WIN the prize and sell the 321 Buzzers you win on Ebay, great. Lets not bad mouth this idea for fracks sake, theres been only a hand ful of responses. Ill keep you posted dudes, and the ladies;)

Hey
I would be interested as well. One thing I didnt like about the Joe club contest was the way the voting was handled. Problems that I saw with it. 1. When I clicked on the voting thread I saw what figures had how many votes before I even voted. This may sway many as a vote for one of the less popular might have been viewed as throwing away their votes. 2. It was taken care of but the crazy voting for snake eyes before the contest ended was ridiculous. I used to belong to a another forum that would have online film fests. In order to vote you had to have over 100 posts so people couldnt just get their friends to pack the voting. Another idea could be limiting the people who could vote by the day they joined. For instance they would have to have been a member here before the contest was announced. That would keep it strictly Hisstankers. Im a little hesitant to send in a figure for the prize booty as I see it as throwing away my money. What I would be more interested to see as a prize is maybe each contestent sends in pieces. Like a set of legs, a set of arms, a head, a torso, etc. It would be cheaper all around and the winner could get something he could work with. just an idea. Otherwise I would be interested to see what pans out. I am working on something that I think will look good in the end.

I really am not serious about if in the end this contest leaves unfair advantages, I just think it will be fun. As an artist, I've liked participating in group activities like this where a piece of artwork is given away.
But, to try to get others with fairness concerns maybe some suggestions for the contest are in order. 1-Only the registered users that participate have a vote. You submit a custom, you've bought your voting privilege. This ensures no one registers 20 names and votes 20 different times. 2-Voters can only get one vote that is PMed to a designated mod. 3-Voters can't vote for their own work. And realize if you strategize by picking a POS, everyone is probably doing the same, thus the POS customizer gets all the customs. So, be honest. 4-any item that's in the figure's hands or on the figure is part of the custom and thus needs to be given. Like I'm making a kickass compound bow. If I'm not willing to let it go, I won't pose it with my custom. 5-I think we need an obscure reference like Joe vs. Dr. Zaius or 20,000 Leagues Below Cobra Island |

i think the original intent was to give a MOC figure, not the custom. I wouldnt enter at all if I had to give up my work.

sounds like a good idea. the only thing I can think of off the bat is that entries should be kept anonymous so to avoid people voting for the customizer, not the custom. we should also establish a theme, so we aren't comparing random customs -- the concept should be just as important as the execution. and most important, it should be fun.

Guppy and Hector, you guys are great.. I apprieciate your concerns...
1st and formost, in this contest...YOU MUST BE a member of Hisstank.com to even enter, and vote, as well. You must have at least 75 replies or posts to enter, to insure 100% honest voting. To enter is easy, send your pic to the thread for voting and send in your Carded figure to A SECURED HISSTANK.COM ADMINISTATERS address, I dont care if its a Gold PDD or a Buzzer you got for 2$ @ Walmart. This is suppossed to be fun, I will have all the official rules posted in a couple days. Dont worry dudes, its like $6.99 to enter and you may win 156 figures and get your figure pictured. Easy as cake lads. |

the theme should be to make a custom of the one figure everyone on the tank wants hasbro to make a 25th version of but we know it will never get made. so everyone is working on their on interpretation of the same character.

Well, I misread. I'm now officially less enthused to participate. I don't need anymore MOCs. After reading that I'm not sure why people are so concerned with a contest being unfair and not wanting to participate when they'll probably just lose a crappy Serpentor at the most.
I love the stuff I create, but I don't get too attached to it to the point, I'm not willing to give it up. If I didn't every once in a while, I wouldn't have room to sleep. I did something similar with my comic art on my myspace site, only the prize was always my art and I wasn't eligible to win it. I guess I never make something that I know I won't enjoy making it again. |
