After suffering countless attempts on his life, Cobra Commander realized that he needed a personal bodyguard. The Commander picked his best soldier and put him through an experimental program. Black Mamba's DNA was fused with the snake which bares his name. Then he was injected with a cocktail of human growth hormones, anabolic steroids, and neural suppressors. Black Mamba wears a full kevlar body suit and along with armor shielding. He is able to with stand a direct hit from a Rocket Propelled Grenade along with heavy weapons fire. Always the paranoid leader, the Commander installed a small explosive device in the rear of Black Mamba's head gear. In the eventuality that Black Mamba turns on the Commander, the explosive can be activated by a code word known only to the Commander.

For a moment I thought you were referring to a customized rotor-spinning Mamba.

Thanks, I am aware that there was a Cobra vehicle called The Mamba, but I just like the idea of the snake's name for Cobra Special Personnel, ie. Copperhead. I was watching Kill Bill vol 1 and 2 while working on it and the name just took hold.
